He's clearly one and done, no disrespect to any other player in college basketball right now, he's the most dominant figure this year thus far, who cares about his stats and numbers, the way he plays is already NBA level

Well why the hell did he even come here. He is not whole hearted about this season. That's obvious. So if he does not give a f___ then why should I. Honestly why did he come to lsu. To stop by and say hello?
This just makes me mad as hell.

Hopefully the kid is realizing he cant just show up and mail it in playing in the SEC. He's playing against guys who can stay with him now...this aint HS....where he most certainly dominated.
He better learn to bring his lunch pail to work and get after it or he'll get his shite pushed in in the NBA.

Before he thinks about going pro, he needs to develop toughness, and learn how to play defense.

Consensus #1 overall pick, but the rant knows he really isn't ready!

Even if he isn't the number 1 pick, what is he going to learn next year? And who is going to teach him?

He'll most likely be the first pick and would be dumb to stay in college, but do you really believe he is ready for the NBA?

Who ever drafts him is going to have to wait for him to develop a game that fits into the NBA. The team and it's fan base are going to have to be very patient. Much more patient than you would normally expect to be with a big time #1 draft pick. Players like Anthony Davis came right in and were able to start and make their presence felt on the team that drafted them almost right from the start.
Unless Simmons game really grows between now and the start of next NBA season he is going to struggle big time being effective in the NBA.

Interesting take, now lets see what the scouts say:

quote:

Every scout I spoke with had Ben Simmons atop his NBA-ready list.

Simmons is the likeliest top overall pick, regardless of who gets it. His long-term and immediate potential are obvious. His blend of size and athleticism, passing and basketball IQ should work from Day 1.

He measured 6'10", 240 pounds during LSU's combine—numbers on par with today's NBA power forwards. The difference is he's actually quicker than most NBA 4s. Simmons will pose problems for bigs in face-up situations, where he can attack off the dribble and blow by with the right or left hand.

quote:

But with strong shoulders, phenomenal hands and active athleticism, Simmons should also be capable of holding his own around the basket. He's fourth in the nation in rebounding and finishing 77.5 percent of his shots at the rim.

His signature passing and vision should translate right away as well, whether he's threading the needle from the pocket or driving-and-kicking to open shooters. The fact that he can contribute without having to score is a major plus when debating his NBA-readiness. Team fit shouldn't determine how well he performs next season.

Whichever organization lands Simmons will have likely found a franchise cornerstone—but also an immediate upgrade and contributor to its 2016-17 starting lineup.

About as ready as anyone to be honest. I mean there are guys like Davis and Lebron, but there are plenty of #1 picks that aren't going to be All-Stars on day one.

I know he was a #2 pick, but just a handy comparison, Kevin Durant was drafted in '07 but didn't make an All-Star team until '10. He seems to be doing fine.

There is nothing Simmons could learn at LSU he couldn't learn better in the NBA.

I disagree... He still needs a jumpshot and his D is suspect... He is REAL GOOD but Valentine at MSU and Hield from OU are better players in the country this year..

He may very well be the #1 pick and that's great for him... But As of now he has been overhyped and people are trying to compare him to Lebron.... REALLY????

regardless, it's going to be interesting to watch because myself I can't picture it so I guess I'll learn something.

I just don't see him banging in the paint with NBA players. He doesn't have a reliable jump shot at all. He can drive to the basket and draw fouls but struggles at the fail line, but It is going to be hard for him to drive to the basket against NBA players especially when they are sagging off of him. His passing is top notch but is he going to play point guard? What position can he play in the NBA?

I'm not saying the scouts don't have a role envisioned for him

I'm just a fan so I will be watching and pulling for him. But to me it is going to be very interesting to see him develop and make his presence felt on a NBA team.

He'll control the ball plenty in transition

The 3, the 4, and the occasional 5 as a small running lineup from time to time. He'll pass out the paint. His versatility is what will make him an instant contributor

He's a unique player. There haven't been many players with his skillset. His jump shot will come around just like ADs did

His rebounding alone will get him in most starting lineups

I would throw Kris Dunn from Providence in that list as well.
