With a great director, they can be back at the top of the conference within 5 years, even with the same numbers.
Offer Ken Bodiford (JSU) 6 figures (Whatever it takes) and be done with it.

I'm waiting to see what Ilinas can do this season, but Personally, I'm not expecting much difference in the creativity and entertainment value of the half-time shows. It certainly wouldn't take much to be considered an improvement. Hope I'm pleasantly surprised, but as a former Tiger Band member, I'm not going to be silent if the shows are all sponsored by Ambien (Sleep Producing) again in 2016.

Like I've stated previously, it's not Rocket Science to produce an entertaining half-time show...........

I'm honestly curious what music you people would suggest the band perform at half time?

We have what, seven home games this year?

Game 1: JSU - Louisiana theme
Game 2: MSU - music from Rudy. Great score
Game 3: Mizzou - homecoming. Do the north end zone thing. Haven't done it in a while.
Game 4: Southern Miss - alumni band. Classic rock anthems.
Game 5: Ole Miss - Academy Award winners.
Game 6: Bama - LSU Salutes. We all know this is the USA show.
Game 7: South Alabama - celebrate the 1960s.

Done.

As for Roy, I'm not going to say he's the best director I've seen. However, to compare him to Curley Hallman just shows the absolute ignorance, stupidity, arrogance, and pettiness of many on this board. I know Roy. He's a really good guy, and a serviceable director who stepped up in a bad situation when the school royally screwed up and drove Linda away by insulting her. He didn't deserve to be treated the way he was, and I hope he cleans up in his lawsuit.
I'm the one that called RK "Marching Band Curley Hallman" and I'll stick by that statement. It's not personal either, it's business.

I marched in the same Drumline with RK and he was one of my best friends, but that has nothing to do with the product he's put on the field. There has been a great decline in the on-field performance quality under him and all the TB Alums I personally know feel the same.

Yes, LSU royally screwed up by running off Linda Moorhouse. She had major disagreements with former School of Music Dean Lawrence Captain over the same type of issues that lead to the current King lawsuit. (School of Music vs Tiger Band Money/Funding issues) and the restructuring of the Band Department.

LSU then made another mistake by not conducting a national search for a Tiger Band director after Roy King's one year "Interim" season. That's when they should have went out and hired a "Marching Band Nick Saban", but they didn't. They got lazy and just went Status Quo by keeping RK, without even trying to find somebody else.

The entire Lawsuit mess is a separate issue. Yes, the two individuals responsible (School of Music Dean and Director of Bands) should be shown the door. Doubt things will change as long as they're both in place. There is going to be a problem the way things are currently set up with the head "Director of Bands" not being the Tiger Band Director. The old system needs to be returned where the head DOB is the GBFTL Director and also in charge of the Wind Ensemble. (With the Associate DOB doing Symphonic Band and assisting with TB) Do this, put Bodiford or Moorhouse in charge of it all and get things back to normal.....................

Just because you did not like Roy's shows does not mean many others did not as well. I also know many band alums who not only think Roy is a great guy, but also think the band was BETTER than it had EVER been during his time as director. You have your opinion and others have theirs. I personally heard Mr. Wickes say in public that the Tiger Band (under Roy's leadership) "has never been better." Roy trained under Wickes and continued to use Wickes' philosophy. So, in my mind, if you think Roy was bad, then so was Wickes.....and I can't agree with that. I guess my friends and I will agree to disagree with you.

I have never understood why this happens on homecoming. Homecoming is for alums...hence the name. Why play to the student section on that game of all games and ignore all the alums who have "come home" and are sitting elsewhere? Seems like playing to the South end zone would make more sense

Oh...and the obligatory..."student section will be empty by halftime anyway" comment.

How many alums come from out of town to the homecoming game because it's homecoming? I'm going with not many.

He should turn the chorus of 'Louisiana 1927' into our version of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'
