have people really been saying that?

either way, i think they are throwing a lot of different things at him. and its not like he is the #1 at any of those positions. so he is not getting all the reps. it might just take some time. i hate how some people think a true freshman can just step in day one and set the world on fire.

I've been wondering this for a few weeks now. Holliday is fast, but Shep is quick and can make those cuts that Holliday just seems unable to make.

There are usually two returners back there anyway. Put Shep back to return with Holliday and it's pick your poison. They couldn't just resort to kicking away from Holliday all the time.

I had read that story last night and was actually encouraged by it. While you have to take whatever an athlete says (to local media in an essentially supervised environment) with a substantial grain of salt, I also think you have to dig very deep to find any evidence of frustration or impatience with the staff.

You also omitted the rest of the sentence in which that quote appeared.
quote:

“I could have gloves on one night or I can just not play another night. You never know with me,” he smiled

So at the risk of being labeled a koolaid drinker, or sunshine pumper, I won't read that as a negative. Those of you who have TSD premium should read it for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

I agree with the many posts on here that it would be great to find additional ways to involve RS. I spent some time trying to dream up such plays last night; I'm sure they'd all work for TD's

“Well, it’s a very difficult one for anybody. What happens is when you’re in high school and you’re the player of the school, the high school coach coaches you, and the other guys get the information around and after you get it because certainly when we go out onto the field, that’s the one guy that has to get the information, and then, the supporting cast will be filled in. They’ll get it peripherally after the guy is operating extremely well. What happens is you come to college and you realize that there is a quarterback, receivers, running backs and a number of guys who get their opportunities and just to coach you would be inappropriate, but we’re going to coach the room, and that room’s responsibility is to get that information. Well, many times when a high school player comes to college, he figures, ‘Well, certainly they are going to grab me and go over that when we get onto the field.’ They don’t necessarily need to take that in their mind that coaching in the classroom to the field with them. Certainly, the coach will tell them again, but what happens is, we call the play and we haven’t told you again, but we’ve called the play. This is your opportunity to demonstrate now what you’ve learned in the classroom. “That is a transition for all freshmen. I think that when you change positions, and we’ve asked him to do a lot of things.

I seriously doubt this, and if its true, it tells me the coach has way too much time on his hands

It would be nice to see the best player on the team actually get some more touches.

But just in case he does......Coach, how bout lining #10 in the left slot. JJ rolls left and pitches back to #10 who runs/passes as he clears the line. Let JoJo go get it.

I think LM is using the freshman transition argument to cover his arse for not playing RS more. we've all played football and its not that hard to learn 2 plays from the wildcat and 2 off tackle runs that RS does. QB complicated -yes,
off tackle right or left, complicated -no.

I cited an example of what a guy who is very similar in ability did in a competent offensive scheme. Harvins or Shepards dont' come along often.
