Actually, the opposite.

If someone else had started Friday we well could have lost and been in a bind.
Yeah, I'm in this camp. Just looking at the brackets:

1 seeds that started 2-0 are LSU, Auburn, North Carolina, Coastal Carolina, Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida State, UCLA. They ALL advanced to Supers.

1 seeds that started 1-1 are UGA, Vandy, Texas, Oregon State, Southern Miss, Ole Miss, Clemson. ONLY Oregon State came back and advanced to the Supers.
Oregon, the other 1 seed, went 0-2.

Every team in the Supers, OTHER than Oregon State, started 2-0, regardless of seed. The only team that went 2-0 and didn't make it was Southern Cal.

Those numbers tell me it is absolutely essential to get to 2-0 in a regional format (which the 1st week of Omaha is, BTW). Getting to that spot saves you from playing an extra game, so the 3rd game (Sunday) isn't that big a deal. If you lose that one, you still go into the rubber game with a big advantage in pitching arms, while the other team is now on their 5th game in 4 days.

Now, Super Regionals play the same as the CWS Finals, best of 3. And in this you obviously don't pitch down, because 2-0 gets you the win.

And college baseball is at the point where team #64 in the field is waaaay closer to team #1 in talent than it used to be.

Knowing what we know now, there is no guarantee LSU wins Friday if AE doesn't start.

Hell, some #1's threw their ace and got beat by 4's.

The only time you ever consider pitching off is if you get the shitty SWAC team as your #4

Nothing is good enough for you dumb fricks! Playing Monday morning QB will always be right. How about you being the coach in that pressure cooker? After all, you HAVE to win EVERY game, no matter what BS or bad calls go against you. Every one who’s talking about tomorrow before today has even started knows nothing about baseball.

“Pitch off” … another term for the resident Rant dumbasses to use over and over to delude themselves into thinking they are “experts.” Much like “(whatever position) room” in football.
