UNC is going to bench any key players for Saturday night's gane vs LSU-you're high!!! All this talk is for show-at most-you may see a 1 quarter suspension if any at all. And if you play into the rumors of Mile's job being in jepordy-ole Butch Davis may want this game badly so he could make an early impression on the LSU faithful for future needs!!

You really have no idea what you're talking about.

Assuming there is indeed inpropriety, if the university knows x number of players are involved (guilty of an infraction) and they knowingly allow them to play before the hammer falls, they set the program up for a much stiffer penalty.
So what you say is true only if the school's investigation to date (gametime) shows that none of the players mentioned had any role in breaking the rules.
More accurately, what you say is simply a bold declarative statement that COULD be true (like saying "Favre will throw an interception on the next play") . . . but nobody really knows.

If the investigation is not resolved before Saturday those players will certain;y not play.

They will hold a 2+ players. Book it. They run a huge chance of getting nailed if they don't.

I definitely don't see this happening

I believe that the suspected players show up on the field. Take a probation risk? The players in question could cry that their rights were violated by being benched if they are found innocent. Not playing effects posssible future income.
And probation isn't all that bad. You can even win a BCS Championship while on probation.

They'd be taking a pretty big chance if they played them, since some of them could be declared ineligible. If they use an ineligible player, they have to forfeit the game if they win.

Depends on the probation. The coaches' poll for years did not include teams on probation, but I think they considered "on probation" to mean ineligibe for postseason play. So, a team could technically be on probation but the sanctions might not include a postseason ban, in which case they might be eligible for the coaches' poll and thus have a chance to win the BCS title. However, obviously a team that is ineligible for postseason play cannot play in the BCS NC game and thus cannot win the BCS championship.

UNC gains nothing - zero, zip, zilch, nada - if those players are allowed on the field if it is later discovered that any, or all, have in fact turned in work that is not their own.
If this was some football factory program, then I might see it, but UNC is very proud of its academic prowess and integrity. The chancellor will not tolerate this stuff.
Keeping them off the field is much like a cop put on desk duty until after the investigation into a shooting in which he's involved is completed. If he's innocent, he returns to duty. If he's guilty, then they have effectively gotten a rogue cop off the streets.
Right now, it looks like a lot of rogues are currently on the UNC football team.

I know the penalty. Look at it long term. You play the ineligible stud puppies. You win a bunch of games. Your program becomes more recognized. Next year you haul in more stud muffins. At the speed that the NCAA moves, it might take several years for the sanctions to hit. In the meantime you have loaded the team with great athletes, you are now a household word. You are putting truck loads of bowl and tv money into the bank. So if you have to go back three or four years to forfeit a game or two what does it matter? It's history. The gold and the athletes are in house.
It might be worth the risk.

if your refering to NCAA being slow because of the USC case thats is because of the curcumstances involved in that case it takes alot longer to investigate when players are from past teams
