If they finish out in this fashion, i would say the best SEASON in college football history. Still a long way to go.

My reasons for saying this:

1.) They've dominated
2.) They've played a schedule that is not only tough, but high profile. To win out, they will have beaten at least 9 ranked teams, 6 of those away from Tiger stadium, and the list could include the SEC East champ, PAC 12 champ, Big East Champ, the Big 12 or ACC Champ (if it's OK State or Clemson in the BCSCG), both teams from the previous National Championship game, the last three BCS Champions.
3.) They would have done it playing more games (14) than any of the pre-BCS teams.

Hold your horses there, still a long way to go before we can compare any team to Miami and Nebraska.

Uh, exactly when did Nebraska do anything in the BCS era? I seem to remember Miama whipping a VERY soft Nebraska team in the 2002 Rose Bowl. That was the Nebraska team that didn't win their division or their conference. Also, if you are referring to the 1996 so-called "Team of the Century" Huskers, Les Miles's 2011 Fighting Tigers would whip their arse, too. Les Miles doesn't play that fancy arse pitch and catch that Steve Spurrier did/does.

Alabama has been winning easily too.

They didnt play Oregon though.

WV fell @ Syracuse. Tsk.

To answer the question, among the top 3 of the BCS era.

It will depend on how LSU finishes. Who the opponent is.

If the opponent is Boise, I think that would be icing on the cake.
Stanford looks better than Boise, to me.
We shall see. Stanford looked like the real deal last year and they crumbled to Oregon in the 2nd half.
Anyway, I think it will take a top notch undefeated opponent to put the icing on the cake. The opponent should be good enough to let people think they might win. Clem?
