Nah... he's an LSU guy so even with very mediocre results on the court, they'll give him at least a couple of more years...

He almost certainly is. IMHO no shot at being fired at the end of the year dance or not.

My concern is the recruiting class coming in is on paper easily his least impressive. Only one of 5 players in the Top 100 I've read.

If Q goes along with Simmons, Grey and Hornby...that certainly looks to be a net loss.

Hopefully there are some diamonds in the rough and the kids returning improve and develop.

I think Wayde Sims and Skylar Mays are those diamonds. Mays is the best player on Findley Prep. He is WAAYY underrated by most recruiting services.

ETA: However, part of me is happy that he is underrated so that our fanbase doesn't shite on him like they do for every highly recruited player.

Mays is the only one rated in the Top 100.

Maybe Sims can be one of the locals like the Temples who was not very highly recruited but was a valuable 4 year player for us.

We'll see....

A portion of the fan base will always find something to shite on. I have no problem with reasonable questioning and criticism but fan is short for fanatic, so.....

Jones is a great recruiter, but the only reason we got Simmons was that his godfather is on the coaching staff.

Simmons knew he was one-and-done, so choosing the perfect college environment wasn't that big of a deal. So he threw his godfather a bone.

Does that hurt our chances of getting other recruits like Ben Simmons?

recruits like Ben Simmons aren't normal. There's 1 maybe ever 4 or 5 years, if that.

Hopefully we can continue our run and make a run in the big dance, or we might as well just give up on the basketball program.
We have top 10-15 talent easily, yet we might not make the tournament. Why any other somewhat high recruit would come here is beyond me.
I know i wouldn't if i was a top recruit, if I had the opportunity to play at Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Kansas, MSU, OSU, UCLA, Zona, Georgetown, etc. There's probably 50 other schools that you could easily make an argument to go to over LSU.
Xavier is a better school to go to, as well as Wichita State and Butler.
