drop KY and s carolina and add flordia state and g-tech
Thats Brutal. SEC would never win another National Championship because there weren't be any good players standing by the end of the season.

This whole thread is ridiculous.
Vanderbilt is a charter member of this conference and they should be allowed to stay as long as they choose to, as should any charter member.
Kentucky has carried the banner of this conference virtually alone in one of the two major sports and played a critical role in upgrading the quality of the conference in that regard.
Only IF a school chose to leave voluntarily should this topic even come up.
IF that were ever to happen, then the pecking order in terms of asking other schools to join would be:
FSU
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Louisville
West Virginia
And it would not have to go beyond that because WVU has already made it clear that they would like to join.
FSU has already turned the SEC down once and I think Clemson may have, too. Georgia Tech voluntarily withdrew. So it would probably come down to Louisville and West Virginia....
Miami is not a good fit "culturally" although I personally have always loved the "U".

I agree with your thoughts, except that personally I have always hated the "U." They acted like trash at the Peach Bowl a few years ago. When Flynn came off the bench, they were laughing so hard they were practically spitting in my face. When the game was over, it was weird because I couldn't find one of them to taunt back.
IMO, Miami is like city folks and the SEC is like country folks.

In all honesty Arky wants badly to be in the Big 12 anyway that's where all there rivals are, just left the SWC a couple of years too early and S. Carolina needs to return to the ACC.
In there spots we should have Texas A&M in the west, they can play Texas as their permanent OOC like UF does FSU and Clemson in the east, they are dying to be in the SEC anyway.

Why would A&M be a better fit for the SEC than Arkansas? I know a lot of LSU fans would like to play them because they are fairly close by, but I think an OOC series with them would make more sense than them joining the SEC.
Texas and A&M seem to be a "package" as far as conference affiliation is concerned.....and they are a better fit geographically and culturally with the other Texas schools and Oklahoma schools (most of whose players come from Texas) than they are with the SEC schools, IMO.

Besides, they suck so bad that they'd hurt the SEC's power rating. We don't need another Mississippi State right now. I'm not saying we should invite the best team in the land so we can continue to beat each other to death, but A&M just sucks.

I would never want any of the Texas schools in the SEC.
WVU is not in the "south."
The only schools that I'd be down with would be Georgia Tech, Louisville, Clemson, or maybe UNC.

You know, now that I have read the whole thread, I like the idea a lot of you had of eliminating Mississippi State
In all seriousness, THAT would bring the Ole Miss-LSU rivalry roaring back to life again because Ole Miss would have a whole state behind it again, with all that would imply for its competitiveness in every respect.....

Drop South Carolina and Add Ga. Tech
Posted on 9/10/08 at 8:12 pm to ready4something
drop Miss St. and Ole Miss, they do not give much to our conference. Add Florida State and Miami. Both schools would add to football, plus you would have the matchups of Florida, Miami and Florida St. every year.
SEC West SEC East
Alabama Florida
Arkansas Florida St.
Auburn Kentucky
Georgia Miami
LSU South Carolina
Vanderbilt Tennessee
I know this is a weird east/west design but it spreads out the programs and what they have to offer.
