Butch Pierre would be near the top of my list for coaches that should not be considered for this job.

Are Tim Floyd and Johnny Jones the other people on that list? Because they're on my version.

Yes, but neither, surprisingly, would be as high as Butch. And I like Butch, as a person. But he would be an absolute abomination on multiple levels as our head coach.

He means that Drew is a slimy coach.

And when you have fellow coaches like Rick Barnes unwilling to shake his hand after games, that ought to tell you something.

I really hope we can get Jon Gruden out of the booth, and on the LSU sideline.

Hes extremely dirty, I dont have a problem with it but seems like a lot of people on this board do. Hes at freaking Baylor, to get the level of athletes he gets to go to a program like that, you have to bend the rules a little.

Considering how LSU itself got slammed with probation in the past, that should not be that big of a surprise.

I don't understand this stance. It's one thing to know that basketball recruiting is dirty, and no program is immune to it. But it's another to not just hire a guy that is a total scumdick, but a guy that allows his leading scorer to break a girls jaw with little to no repercussions because he's good at basketball.

Terrible choice IMO.

I still dont know what you were referring to because you didnt say anything. If you are talking about the being dirty aspect, it was already said in this thread. I asked the question because I thought you might bring some substance to this thread instead of just being a jackass.

Apparently no one wanted to touch him after how he underachieved so badly at UCLA.

Looks like he is really bringing in some serious talent at St. John's, but then again, it's not like he never had talent at UCLA.

Success at one school does not guarantee success at another...no one is a sure thing, is all this proves. Look at Trent, he is a good coach, had success at Stanford, but just can't seem to attract the talent to LSU, and this year the team just underacheived in more ways than one.

The NCAA intimidated me, manipulated me into making up things, and basically encouraged me to lie, in order to be able to finish my playing career at Kansas. They told me if we don't find any dirt on Coach Brown you won't be allowed to play but one more year at Kansas. I caused great harm, heartache and difficulties for so many people. I feel sorriest for hurting Coach Brown. Coach Brown, I apologize to you for tarnishing your magnificent career at LSU." - Lester Earl

I was more talking about the recruiting aspect. I dont know all the details of this situation so cant really comment to the severity of the punishment he should have handed out.

I'm just saying that it's possible to get a good coach and good recruiter without falling prey to hiring a guy like him.

1. Phil Jackson
2. Coach K.
3. Jerry Sloan

It will be an Arkansas/LSU battle for these guys.

Tim Floyd. He is the only decent coach that would be willing to take a chance on this program.

I think more realistically would be Mark Turgeon. I'd think we'd have a small shot at stealing him from A&M.
