I still don’t think our D has played to their potential. In all of our big games we have one great half and one bad half.

Florida first half : 21 points given up
2nd half: 7 points

Texas first half: 7 points
2nd half: 31 points

Alabama first half: 6 points (punt return not included)
2nd half: 28 points

D seems very boom or bust, I’d love to see them put together a 60 minute game especially in the SEC championship or the playoffs. Would be nearly unstoppable.

Agree.

I would love to see the D clamp down for a full game against the dancing bears.

As a corallary for the O, it would be fun to go old school, line up in the power-I and keep Joe out of the danger zone.

I am an optimist but I really think this entire team goes to a whole new level now. I believe the 3-4 games prior to bama our team had bama on their mind. Now that we have gotten that monkey off our back I think we start crushing everyone...offensively and defensively. I think we will see a team playing loose with incredible confidence from here on out.

Its coming together. Injuries early and tougher competition late make things look worse than they are. The Bama game had 21 points of fluke plays. I thought the D was on point vs Bama.

If our defense continues to play at the level they did in the 1st half against Bama just into the third quarter we would have won that game by 3-4 touchdowns. LSU was obviously the better team but we got relaxed on defense in the second half and stopped putting pressure on Tua and let Bama start running the ball. The defense is a very odd part of the team this year. As you say, they're either really good or really bad and it shows up throughout games in both directions. If we play a complete game against Florida on defense we win that one by at least 4 touchdowns as well. LSU has a team that can beat anyone and beat them soundly if the defense plays to the level we've seen it play at times this season.

Against Texas, Florida and Alabama, LSU gave up 5, 4 and 4 third down plays of 10 or more yards. Against Auburn and Miss. St., LSU gave up only 1 long 3rd down play each.

With it's reliance on the run, I'm guessing OM will have less 3rd luck than even Auburn. Meanwhile, the Ole Miss defense is not in the Auburn category, so offensive success by LSU will limit Ole Miss' chances, making the chance of LSU D finally putting together a complete game even greater.
