Wilson has never had any known character flaws and everyone alway speaks highly of him... but they will believe any rumor as long as it fits the narrative of where they want to place the blame.

Yall took these same insiders takes on the coaching search as gospel, but when they say something perceived as unpopular they’re rumor mongers lol

The VIP paid posters on 247 are posting these “rumors”. The same ones who posted about Kelly immediately getting canned and had “good” insight on Kiffin.

Shea gives these guys free reign to post these tidbits, it’s not like this info is being put out by randos.

There is no way in hell Frank Wilson would risk his reputation that way. Just no way

My guess is Frank doesn’t know what his position will be next year. He’s answering truthfully in that regard when asked by recruits. And those he’s recruited and are close to may be waiting it out instead of signing tomorrow.

I’d bet that’s the closest to the truth in this.

I’ve been gone all day, and this thread is the 1st I’ve heard of this, and all I’ve heard of this. So there may be more information disputing what I’m about to say, but I agree with this post. There’s a difference between actively recruiting against LSU and telling guys not to sign, and just being straight up with them. “I don’t what my future is at LSU, so don’t commit to me—or don’t sign assuming I’m going to be there—if you sign, do it because you’re signing with LSU.”

Something like that makes more sense, but it could easily be misinterpreted by a 17-year-old kid and by the time the 3rd person hears it, it’s greatly exaggerated. And that’s what Frank should tell them. Recruits these days don’t care nearly as much about who the head coach is. It’s money and their relationship with their recruiter. It’s why there were no decommits when we fired Brian Kelly. It should be more about the university and the program. Because that’s not going anywhere. LSU is still going to be LSU 5 years from now. But a defensive guy may wind up playing for 3 different DCs or position coaches. Nature of the beast.

I always thought it was kinda gross when coaches knew they weren’t gonna be there the next year, but didn’t tell recruits until after they’d already signed. On the one hand, you’re paid to do a job, and that job entails recruiting for your current employer until you’re no longer employed. But some coaches have straight lied and let recruits think they were going to be there, and then pulled the rug out from under them after it was too late.

The ethical thing is to recruit to the school, and make sure the kids understand how fluid coaching staffs can be. But that’s not reality. If Frank has been recruiting a guy for 5 years, knows his family, his friends, coaches and teachers, if he has that relationship with them, and knows he’s going to be on staff, of course he’s going to use it to his advantage to get them to LSU. But if he’s not sure, he owes it to them to be honest. And if they want to wait a little longer and see, that’s understandable too.

Hopefully that’s all this is. If Frank is actually telling guys not to sign to leverage a job—at LSU or anywhere else he might wind up—then he needs to be gone before I submit this. I’m not sure how we could ever truly know, though.
We’ll see what happens.

But reading the few tea leaves available, I don’t think Frank will the LSU RB coach moving forward at the very least.
