I can tell you this.
The biggest meltdown in ranter history will take place if Les leaves or is fired, and then all these wild-eyed idiots hollering "Saban!" and "Gruden!"--then have to swallow the fact that we end up with Mike Gundy or Houston Nutt.
The old saying is: "be careful what you wish for."
There doesn't seem to be a translation of that from English into ranter.

Del Rio will be fired after this season if he doesn't get in the playoffs.IMO he's shown nothing to me to merit an upgrade.Gruden is the wildcard no one knows if he would consider coming to the college game.It seems that big timers and up and comers are reluctant to leave the places they've made their mark.Best case for us would be Les leaves on his own accord to take Mich job. Then we look better than if we run off a coach thats won 70% of his games.

I think Edsall is a good coach, but I really believe Fitzgerald is the best young coach in the country.
Personally, I'd rather I hire a young guy than a guy thats been around a while and will be on his second or third stop.

Sell out for Harbaugh and go from there.

Would be perfectly okay with this as well.

first post in this July 2010 thread, IF TRUE, sounds as if he may be interested in a future opening

Only way this happens is if Miles pulls a Saban in late December or early January.

I have a feeling Harbaugh's next stop will be in the NFL.

Why do people always mention Peterson from Boise State? If you know anything about the guy's background, it's pretty clear he's staying put for a LONG time. Check out his wife's story and how the Boise community embraced them.
the same can be said for Garry Patterson at TCU. He would really be the better fit at LSU in my opinion since he is defensive focused but He is not going anywhere until all of the TCU NC team members have passed away.

The scariest scenario out there is Kevin Sumlin IMO.
He is riding what Art Briles built and is in no way prepared for the SEC. But people freaking love him.
That offense gimmick won't work here.

I like Gruden. He's a great QB coach and he has fire in his belly. I think he'd be wildly popular with the fans and his experience in the NFL would be a great recruiting tool.
Last years QB class spent time with him (documented on ESPN) and the comments from Clausen, Tebow, Bradford, et al were that they would have all loved to play for him.
Would he come here some say ... Is 3M a year more than he's making now ?
