And someone mentioned this in another thread. Besides a Gruden, if we have to replace Les after this season, anybody worth a frick would have their own buyout LSU would have to pay...on top of Les' buyout.

I believe barring total implosion, Les Miles will not be released/fired/asked to resign, or anything of that nature following the 2010 season. But of course, I also don't think LSU will have a bad season.

I think this would be the most likely scenario if we lose over three games. Though my personal preference would be to stop the bleeding now than put it off another year.

Definitely my number one choice should something happen to the current staff.

I'd come on myself if that happened, but I don't think there's a chance in hell. We'd all love Patterson, Peterson, a few others maybe...

LSU is a great coaching job for college football, but when have we ever made a splash with a coaching hire? Since I've been an LSU fan, I've seen us hire Hallman, Dinardo, Saban (who was not an exciting hire when we got him), and Miles. As a fan base we always think the top coaches will be banging on our door, but we never land any of them. I don't see why the next hire, if and when it happens, will be any different. Especially if we show our coach the door not too long after a NC.

As far as the OP's topic, I think we'll beat UNC, I really do, but if we lose, most of the fanbase is going to meltdown. Hopefully the players have more faith in the coaches than the fans. I think the season hinges on the UNC game for right or wrong.

Most likely. I do think 6 losses would definitely get Miles fired though. 4-5 and Miles will be looking at having to excuse some assistants. My wish is for Miles to succees, since it would mean success for the program.

Finding a sure fire replacement will be more difficult than most think. Would be extremely expensive to get a big name current coach here, and any assistant is a gamble.

If you are hoping LSU beats UNC then this thread would have never been started, by you anyway. But. there has been let's see 100 since the first of August. Go pull for another team with all this negative junk.

It's all on how the team looks, although the nega's certainly will latch onto a loss, and I've even heard media members speculate that Les would lose the team if they don't beat UNC, which is bullshite. The first goal of any SEC team is to win their conference division, and a win or loss to UNC doesn't affect that. The team could look good, lose a close one to UNC, then run off a bunch of wins.

Fore, you're too sensible for the Rant, I agree with everything you said. Too bad the Rant is a microcosm of a huge part of the fanbase.

Cruden had one good year with Dungy's players and then crapped out; and by the way Del Rio hasn't been too successful with Jacksonville;

Yes, the season could well hinge on the UNC opener, and I think even if the Tigers can eke out a 3-7 point victory, in a low scoring, defensive game, it would give the team some good momentum. Whatever it takes playing the opener on a neutral field--whether it's a Peterson interception return or some long FG's by Jasper, just get that victory, in spite of Crowton & Stud!

The way Gruden relates to the players will make him highly successful in college. Someone will get him.

It is getting agravating seeing all these negative posts on this board. It was 45 years between 1958 and 2003 before we won an NC and then we win again in 2007 4 years later and all these bandwagon fans think we should win it every year. There are 118 other teams playing for the same trophey it more than likely will be awhile before we win it again. Yes,I want to win it every year also but I have since enough to know that is not likely. No one has that I know of and I do not think we will either.

So all I want is for these meatheads to calm down and enjoy the best 20 year period in LSU History. LSU is the best Baseball program in the Country the last 20 years but we have not won the NC every year. That is all sorry LaCour crying on your shoulder.

There are worse things than losing your first game out of conference. See Oregon last season. LSU can recover, but it will certianly put a lot of pressure on the team.

Carroll before USC, Saban before Bama. But that doesn't mean Gruden or Del Rio would be good college coaches.
