Huh?

So a SR every other year would be a fireable offense in your book?

funny, cause the same poster wants to give Matt McMahon 3 more seasons to get it right.

you are no better than him. While he can't prove his point, you can't prove yours either. We lose a game, you can just say we lost to a better team so not able to say he coached badly.
No, I can.

Jay went to Coleman after Dutton did nothing for 3 batters. Coleman went 1.1, and instead of sitting on him for longer, he went to Hellmers for 5.2, something he had never done in his time at LSU.

Then, he went to Ack, who had zero command of his fastball. People seem to forget that all he had going was the off speed, and as UNC had done to us multiple times in the last 2 days, one mistake would have tied the game. He went to the best pitcher on the stuff and UNC hit one ball hard that Jake Brown should have caught.

I'll sit here and go decision by decision all day. I don't agree with every single thing the coach does, but Jay makes the right decision far more often than not.

He has made a lot of head scratching decisions...some worked, some don't. Many I don't agree with, just like others. I don't know what makes people like you the way you are...trying to prove others wrong.
Because the vast majority of people who say these things know next to nothing about the sport. Stupid opinions should be shut down as quickly as possible.

The minimum standard for LSU Baseball should be a super regional.

That’s unrealistic the minimum standard should be to make the tournament every year and advance more often than not.

We have reached Supers once

We have reached the Supers 13 times since Skip retired in 22 seasons (2020 canceled). Why are some of you so obsessed with trying to discredit the current coach, who has already produced a championship? He’s in year 4 already won a title and this season has produced a top 8 seed. What exactly is the problem?

Paul went runner up, regional loss, super regional, super regional before being run out of town

Two straight years of not getting to a super regional would have his seat somewhat heated I would imagine

This is severely overstating his success.

He went:
2017: Runner up,
2018: Embarrassed in Corvallis (lost a ton, excusable to an extent)
2019: Non-national seed swept by 3 seed FSU in a super
2020: Wouldn't have made a regional. People don't understand how bad this team was. COVID gave Paul another year.
2021: Gifted 3 seed in Eugene as a retirement gift, lost to Gonzaga, had to walk off Central Connecticut State, Dylan Crews and Gavin Dugas catch fire, win on a balk, Get embarrassed in Knoxville.

It was clear which direction the program was headed his last 5 years.

It was also more than a decade from winning a title, not 2 years. Plus he did have severe pain and was clearly affecting his ability to coach.
