After the Indy Bowl folds, Shreveport will be available.

If the Weedeater Bowl folds, it won't be because of the economy but because they didn't get their bailout from all those Gumps who made the trip to town every December

As an LSU fan, I must say "no f'ing way" do we move...
2000 beat GA Tech (Peach)
2001 beat Tennessee (SEC)
2003 veat UGA (SEC)
2005 beat Miami (Peach)
2007 beat Tennessee (SEC)
3 wins against top 5 teams and 2 wins vs. top 20 teams.
If they moved it, the only real consideratons that would be similar and not a tremendous downgrade would be Charlotte, Tampa, New Orelans, and Nashville.

There are more ACC schools in Florida than SEC. Just saying...

you're right, it looked like bama dominated 70-30

I noticed the same thing. I was really surprised at how badly Bama fans outnumbered those from UF. Why can't LSU get those kinds of numbers when we go to ATL?

Well most people here do, but 10 out of 12 SEC schools are closer to Atlanta than New Orleans, and there's fricking nothing in Mississippi that would be a middle ground for the south. The Big 12 has more big cities that are viable options.
Its hard to see how NO isn't a viable option. Hurricance season is way over by the SECCG, and if the Superdome is good enough for the Sugar Bowl its good enough for the SECCG. With the exception of Arky all SEC West schools are fairly close to NO.

Last year we played UT - and Atlanta is real close to Knoxville plus there's a ton of UT fans that live in that northwest corner of Georgia.

Well, Atlanta really is not that far away from AL.
I've always heard that the SECCG wouldn't be in New Orleans because "traditionally" the winner of the SEC goes to the Sugar Bowl and it would be hard/boring for fans to go to the same city twice.

I realize that. My question is if LSU fans have the same opportunity to purchase tickets as the UT, UF, USC, etc. fans, then why don't they? ATL has a large LSU alumni chapter and last year we knew at least a week ahead of UT that we'd be in the SECCG, but they still outnumbered us 3:1. This year is the first time since the game has been in ATL that I recall seeing the West team bring more fans than the East champ.

New Orleans has Southwest Airlines and therefore flights into the city on Any carrier is far cheaper than flights into Atlanta.

okay
but ATL is drivable from most SEC campuses

Speaking of venues, I find it odd that the ACC had their title game in Tampa this year. I can see Charlotte and those places along the coast, but I see Florida as SEC country.
----------------------------------------------
They moved ACC Championship out of jacksonville because no one was going see the game. Watched it yesterday in tampa and no one was there either
TRUST ME SEC IS THE MAJORITY OF FLORIDA

NO other champ game can hold a candle to ours, SEC schools bring in more dollars on tv, tickets, anything, we are college football, all other conferences can suck it

Not only that, but it would be an unfair advantage for LSU to have home field in both games. Quit y'all's fricking "it's not fair" crying. As long as the Sugar Bowl is in New Orleans, the SECCG has no business being there. I think it's pretty perfect as it is.

I agree, I would like to see in New Orleans every now and again, but I understand why they don't put it in New Orleans ... because the SEC champion goes to the Sugar bowl in the same city.
I did comment last night that the Big12 championship wasn't even a sellout. My brother and sister (who go to Texas), said "it's cold." I said the Big12 championship location sucks likes yall's tiebreakers ... Put that game in a Dome, it's December, of course it's going to be cold!
I'm glad the SEC championship game is in a dome ... although I'd like to see it in New Orleans every now and again and i hate that the East has a fan advantage usually, I'm very content with the SECCG being in Atlanta. I enjoy Atlanta, enjoy the Dome, enjoy the atmosphere, and really like the fact that the "goal" has becmome to "get to Atlanta." Not to mention I would definitely not enjoy going to NOLA for the SECCG and then a month later for the Sugar Bowl. I love NOLA and all, but I enjoy getting out of Baton Rouge/NOLA in Dec/Jan and traveling to somewhere "new."

Eastern Division gets the homefield advantage for the SECCG, but that is offset by the West having the offices for the league officials in Birmingham. That has been a huge benefit to LSU over the years. I am sure that we can all think of big calls that have gone our way...
Seriously, I was thinking about this watching Alabama holding all game yesterday without a single one called. SJPW would have been on his arse 6-8 more times just on the times #71 had a handfull of jersey/facemask/throat/ crotch of the Gaytor's DE and LBs. Kind of evened things out.
