I understood the media going off about a bar fight with a senior QB that has the chance to lead us to the MNC. But the extent the BRPD went into investigating it and dragging it out is just ridiculous!! All because of the NCAA in my opinion. And now they are suspending Shepard for who knows how long. If this is the NCAA's normal practice for holding people to rules then I'm mad they decided to do this after SCAM Newton. I thought you pretty much could do whatever after I saw how they handled Cam's situation. Does this get to anyone else when you compare to the Camgate last year???? I mean his dad admitted to asking for money and his son goes free?

The BRPD doesn't give a damn about the NCAA.

getting pressured from someone, otherwise this should have been wrapped up, or dropped, by now

b/c this is a high profile case and they are trying not to frick it up. wouldn't you rather them be thorough? I truly believe JJ would have already been charged if he wasn't playing qb for LSU. Usually the cops would have taken the word of the witnesses and the video and that would be it. If it was beat in court... who cares? They can't take that attitude with JJ. Arresting him without being 100% certain will ruin his career.

If his daddy robs a bank where Cam is employed, should Cam go to jail. His daddy is alledged to have asked for money from Mississippi State not Auburn. No evidence Cam Newton had knowledge or involved.

robbing a bank has nothing to do with Cam's recruitment, but representing his son while asking a school for money if they want his son; does relate to Cam!!! Besides who this year has been suspended so far? I'm curious.

I wish they would just go the scam newton route and suspend them for 4 hours this saturday, reinstating them immediately after.

The NCAA has lost all credibility in my opinion with the Scam Newton rulings. Pathetic. It's an arbitrary body that makes some ridiculous decisions. Cam Newton should have been ineligible from the get go. Didn't know about his dad shopping him, my arse!!! Pitiful!!

I was under the impression that that didn't matter. Isn't it correct that no one in the family can knowingly accept benefits?

yes, But obviously most rational people realize something went down at Auburn/Miss State and he got away with it. Now Shepard has to sit possibly 4 games for having a conversation with a player???!

To be honest, as much as I love CFB, last year I started to get turned off by all the NCAA investigations, etc and not because of the actual breaking of rules, but the inconsistency of the NCAA and the hypocrisy of it all.
The NCAA has too much power in terms of affecting the actual quality of the game. The lack of structure (in terms of how each conference is governed under its own rules) and the difference between the level of play from the top programs and the bottom teams. If you look at a ranking of all 120 teams, the gap between the #1 team and the #120 is huge and until there is a more defined way to determine a champion, the CFB post season, IMO has little value.
I know I am getting somewhat off track here, but I understand what you mean.
