That means we go 3 and out a whole lot.
and our opponents did not go 3 and out against our bend but don't break defense. its all an endless cycle of stupidity and none of us will be winners.
i am not trying to really defend crowton in this thread. as i have said, i want him gone. i am just saying that there are a lot of misleading stats out there and the way some people just look to those as gospel is laughable.

I can guaran-damn-tee you most, if not all, of those coaches with freshman and sophmore QBs had Offenses that finished ranked well above 112th.
How many of those went to the highest rated non-BCS bowl?
We finished third the SEC with an undermanned OL and inexperienced QB . In my unbias opionon that is a great acheivement by our coaching staff.

The defense kept us in every freaking game this year. Hell, because of the defense we beat Mississippi State (pick returned for a TD) and had us in the Ole Miss game (pick returned for a TD) as well as guaranteed a win over Washington (pick returned for a TD).
The offense just doesn't move the ball and by the 4th quarter the defense is gassed and worn out.

this...bigtime.
as I've said before, coach Crowton is a good coach at the wrong school. call the play...execute the play that is called...let the qb develop his football IQ and the trust of his team by calling audibles. that merkat crap is nothing but micro-management and that is, IMHO, the surest way to stifle the growth of your qb and offense. ball control, power/play action football with a very active tight ends and backs. keep it simple...make it hurt.

Crowton's offense had us in the lead in the fourth quarter.
If J.J. could have hit our receivers in their hands instead of their feet most of the game, Crowton's offense would have scored more points against Penn St.
Not to mention the playing conditions which took away our talent advantage in speed and magnified their power running advantage. And we still only lost by 2 points.
So, after a 2 point loss in absolutely the worst field conditions immaginable you can find fault with Crowton.
Only idiots with an agenda will agree with you on that one.
Do you also defend with WR middle screen with no timeouts on the 45? What does that "setup, why not a play with a couple go routes and a couple comebacks with your RB heading to the sideline as your safe? It doesn't take a genius to design a play to get the ball to the sideline with plus yardage. Now whether or not JJ would have been able to run these plays correctly is a different animal all together.

However...if Miles loses 5-6 games this season, with or without Crowton, its time for him to go.
The best way of insuring that happens would be for Miles to bring in a new system for our young QBs to learn next year.
If Miles does that, he will be a gonner just like Tubervile was when he changed offenses three times in one year.

Having watched other games the past couple of weeks, it makes me sick to my stomach looking back at tha Meerkat shite that we do now. It ain't working and is our demise. I want to see the huddle returned with plays called from there and then run them. The meerkatting every freaking play has caused many false starts and alignment problems.

Defense is to blame also, the defense allowed opponents to run 910 plays, LSU on the other hand only had 771.
Last years offense ran 886 plays and the defense allowed 846.
So the offense did not stay on field as long and defense did not get them off the field as fast. Yet inside the red zone they were money.

Also, weren't we outgained by 9-10 opponents?
Here I listed this on another page of this thread.
LSU failed to reach 300 total yards in 6 games
LSU gained over 350 yards 2 games
LSU gained over 400 yards only once all season
LSU was outgained yardage wise in 8 games this season. That includes LA Tech, Florida, Alabama, Penn State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Washington, and Arkansas

Go back to the first half and the defense gets off the field quicker. It's in the second half that teams stay on the field longer because our defense is gassed.

Please point out all the SEC coaches, both Head Coaches and Offensive Coordinators, who have won with freshman QBs.
Putting aside for the moment the fact that Jefferson is not a freshman, there is still quite a long list that is responsive to your pathetic attempt at sarcasm.

Damn, almost 5 minute difference in time of possession and I'm sure that stat is helped greatly by our OOC games.

The times Lee played this year he looked much, much worse than last year. Jordan Jefferson is starting to get like Lee. There is something terribly wrong in the way Crowton has been coaching them.

I'm not that big of a Crowton hater as many appear to be on here.
LSU's problem is a weak and soft OL. We have no running game and QB cant get comfortable in the pocket. Do we blame Crowton for such a porous O-line?
I'm more concerned about the defense.
On defense the oppenents converted 36.76% of 3rd downs (thats 10 in the SEC)
On defense the openents converted 52.63% of
4th downs(10 of 19)
On road defense, the opponents converted 45.37% of 3rd down coversions.
Most blame Crowton for the TOP difference, but the defense could not get off the field.
EDIT: didnt read post above with previous stats...

The defense is VASTLY better than last year. Arkansas scored the most on us at 30 and only 4 others scored over 20 points on us. In 2008 5 different opponents scored 31 or better with two of them over 50 and 3 other opponents scored over 20.

I'm well aware of the Malleveto disaster.
But our defense could not get off the field because we simply could not stop opponents on 3rd or 4th down.
If the offense had a 3rd and 2 I felt okay with the defenses chances. If it was a 3rd and >5 it seemed like an automatic first down.
