This started as a Jamarcus thread and turned into a Flynn vs Jamarcus thing. The Rant at its finest. :lol

Ohh and for all the idiots that are talking about Manning in the NFL compared to Dilfer and that shite, Peyton won a fricking Super Bowl a couple years ago, did you forget?

Tebow puts up incredible stats, FWIW. Especially TD numbers.

point being that Tim Tebow is a great College QB but i doubt hes going to be a great NFL Quarterback, and most agree with me on that, so its really pointless to argue college stats on the basis of how good of QB you are

Unless you're arguing how good of college QB someone is, which is what we are doing.

But why use stats and objective measures when we can just as easily use subjective feelings?

I love what Matt Flynn did here at LSU and I have said it on many occasions, but again, we have some of the dumbest internet badasses of any fanbase.

There is a reason, Flynn was on the bench for 4 of his 5 years at LSU. If JR stayed, Flynn would have ended up at North Texas or Stephen F. Austin playing 1AA ball (unless JR got hurt).

Flynn did awesome in that SEC Championship game against UT, oh wait, he didn't play. He used his intangibles to beat Arkansas and Kentucky, oh I forgot, we lost those two games. His great decision making led to him throwing fewer ints than JR (Not to mention JR numbers are superior in every way).

If WV wins their last regular season game that year, are we having this conversation (and this doesn't have anything to do with JR or MF play on the field by the way). We got lucky to even get into that game and we dominated an overmatched OSU team.

JR, shake off the haters from an institution and state that you represented well during you time here. Thank you for being a true Tiger with good character and regardless of what these idiots say you were a top 3 LSU QB in my opinion!

Even after 3 years, I still miss Jamarcus Russell. And despite the huge amount of excitement I have for Jordan Jefferson and Russell Shepard, every time I see him play I can't help but wish he was still our QB.

It blows my mind to think that people hated him here and wanted Matt Flynn to play ahead of him. This guy was so special and was one of the best talents to ever play at LSU.

So, who is with me??

Here we go again.

interesting. jamarcus russell was good physically, but not that smart. funny - a friend told me about him being in an all-star game in alabama.....we all like him because he won at lsu, but he was a dumbass - plain and simple. i, like others, was there yelling for him the times that he won for lsu and wondering why he was in there at other times (auburn). he was a beast to take down, but this guy wore a uat elephant around his ghetto neck later - way to represent. just because he wore the purple and gold, doesn't mean he's a great guy....see billy cannon.

Who really cares, why can't they be both great LSU QBs, Flynn gave us a ring is the reason we are so proud of these numbers: 58, 03, 07, and those numbers will live WAY longer than whatever stats JR put up, see I can't remember any off hand, and I doubt any of ya'll can w/o looking them up. So for all you that crown JR as the best ever, he will be forgotten, and Flynn WILL always be remembered whether you like it or not

that's fine.

I don't think anyone here hates matt flynn.

I just think jamarcus was, and is a better QB than him.

they both have championship rings, correct?

So you think JR, will be remembered 50 years from now? you don't think we will have anybody better than him come along?? If not more than a couple that end up better than him

People get remembered for Heismans and championships in college football not stats

If Tebow put up the same stats w/o the national championships people wouldn't care about his stats and wouldn't go down as the best ever, like it looks he will after he leaves next year

Who do Tennessee fans remember more? Tee Martin or Peyton Manning? Who do you think they will remember more 50 years from now?

But if Peyton Manning was a bust in the NFL do you think they would remember him?

From your lips to God's ears . . .

I have no idea. For as long as there have been message boards for LSU sports, there have been people who seem incapable of liking more than one LSU player in competition for a position. It was there when Booty, Davey and Nall were fighting for playing time, it was there when Marcus Randall and JaMarcus Russell were competing for playing time in '04, it was there when Flynn and Russell were both QBs, it was there when Vincent and Broussard were competing for playing time in '04, it was there when Hester, Williams and Scott were competing for playing time in '06 and '07, it was there (and still is) when Lee and Jefferson were competing for playing time last year. I suspect that these people were around long before internet message boards, but there are so few of them they were probably isolated amongst lots of reasonable fans who just ignored them or laughed at them when they tried to pull their either/or shite. I guess it wasn't until the internet allowed them to band together under one united ranter banner that they (unfortunately) gained an audible voice.

Yes. He was a God in Knoxville, and he was the first overall pick in the NFL Draft.

Yea but they are biased that he is soooo successful, but i have yet to find a Vol to forget about tee Martin yet

And I have a hard time seeing JR's aura around Tiger Stadium in another 50 years, unless he becomes extremely successful in the NFL

Interesting statement, since every single argument in favor of Russell vs. Flynn also applies to every other QB in LSU history except for Rohan Davey's single season passing yards.

I wasn't arguing that Tennessee fans would forget Tee Martin.

Even if he does, you're probably right. Many LSU fans can't stand the guy. Plus, Bert Jones was the second overall pick in the 1973 NFL Draft and was the NFL MVP in 1976... and many LSU fans don't even know that he was a good NFL QB... crazy!
