all yall really bitching about the defense the vandy game?
Do you even READ the title of this post? The question was not related to either game, but the schemes/system that Chavis uses. I am not familiar with his work at UT, although he has a good reputation. Does he blitz a lot? Is he a more conservative prevent guy? Does he primarily use man-to-man? Trying to get a guage on what to expect from the D and how it will match up this season.

Chavis pretty much runs a soft zone/keep everything in front of you/bend but don't break defense.

Another part of my concern. The DBs were highly recruited players. Not that it always rings true. but you invest in that perceived talent.
DING DING
Therein lies the reason for the alleged negatigers unreasonable expectations. Throw in a 3.8 million per year coach and you should have a dominant football team.

THANK YOU .... I guess! Not sure if that is good news or not.
Was hoping he would be a more aggressive blitz kind of coach.

Chavis is obviously trying to get pressure by rushing 4 - With the younger D linemen showing some promise, things will improve. We have good athletes in the D backfield - they just need the D line to get some pressure. We'll be fine

I diagree here. I understand that Chevis runs a soft zone, but after get torched by the Huskies, and by vandy for a few series I saw them start running a lot of man to man. Maybe, he is just a good coach and switching to what works with his personal. (i hope)
