You do realize there is a huge difference between making sure you win at all costs, and do what you can to win while not pitching your top 2 pitchers and possible giving some of the other guys a rest.

so a better showing in the tourney doesnt guarantee us a better national seed? A better national seed means we get an easier path to omaha?

You ask any former college pitcher if they think you should rest your top two pitchers a week to ten days before a regional and you would get a resounding no you don’t. You can rest Dugas or other positional players but you don’t rest pitchers unless they are injured. Now you don’t throw them their full pitch limit but they need to pitch to stay in a routine.

I’m still trying to figure out the purpose of a league tournament when you are a conference like the SEC in first place.
