I feel almost as if I took those defenses for granted. In the last 20 years we have allowed more than 20 PPG only 6 times (2001, 2008, 2013, 2015, 2018, 2019). Most of those defensive units were considered garbage by LSU’s standards.

Last years defense took a lot of crap for how they played early in the season but they were actually pretty damn good in the rare event we needed them to be. Now we can’t get a stop against Mississippi State or Missouri. I feel like I’m watching Kansas

Great defensive football is dead.

Hard to believe that 9-6 win in Tuscaloosa was less than a decade ago. College football is turning into arena football with these high scoring games.

I agree.

"Great Defenses" hold teams to 28 points a game in this age of football.

We don’t need to be great anymore. I’d just settle for being good.

If Kentucky can play half arse defense there’s no reason LSU shouldn’t

I think you are right. Offenses are too wide open and gimmicky now.

The game has evolved. We are seeing pure evidence of Bo refusing to adapt.

Elite defenses are thing of the past Don't let the gumps make Pete Goulding the scapegoat. That's saban's defense they are running. Bama has to think more since the current offensive direction are the weak link to breaking the Saban code. Only defensive genius that has adapted imo are Bellichick and on the college level, Aranda.

Absolutely. Aranda's defense is agile. His 3-4 adapts to the current game. Plus Aranda is the linebacker whisperer. If you don't believe me, go back and watch Patrick Queen play yesterday against the Bengals.
