BamaScoop-
Couldn't agree more with your point, thanks for posting. Like you and 99.9% of the people on this site, I'm probably not qualified to comment on Miles' ability as a head coach. That being said, I think there are some FACTS that often get overlooked that can't be easily explained away.

While I don't think Miles or any other coach is above criticism, I think people often fail to keep it in prospective.

Anyone who wants to argue that Miles in abysmal at clock management and a less than articulate public speaker...I think is standing on pretty solid ground and I have no real argument for you!

However, that's two Head Coaching traits out of 10's or maybe 100's of qualities that make up a good head coach.

Now for a few FACTS:
- Les Miles has the best winning percentage of any LSU Football coach in the history of LSU football

- He's won us a National Championship (1 of 3 in 120 years of LSU football)

- He's put 3 LSU teams in the top 5 final rankings, 2005, 2006 and 2007
(Only other coach to do this was Paul Dietzel in '58, '59, and '61)

- His team is currently 5-0 and ranked 9th in the country.

Now I'm sure the naysayers will come up with a million and one excuses to explain all this away.
However, I really don't think it's possible that coaching major college football in the SEC for 5+ season you can be "dumb as a stump" and just "luck" your way into the above numbers.

On a number of levels, I don't think Coach Miles gets the credit he deserves. Appreciate your attempt to shed some light on that...

Scoop, you're flaming here but, answer this...team is on probation, lost their coach in the summer, a coach comes in last minute w/o recruiting his own or a spring and goes:

1st year...4-9
2nd yr...6-6
3rd yr...10-2
4th yr...6-7

Does he deserve to be fired before the end of his 4th yr, hated, and trashed by his own fans?

Edit: you Tiger fans who are agreeing w/ Scoop are being played. I notice the Miles panty-sniffers really came out of hiding in this thread too.

While I do think you are a pretty good Bama Fan....by Gump standards....you also talk out of both sides of your mouth, depending on the audience.

I have to be honest, it's not funny to me. LSU is one of the most talented teams in the entire country and those kids work their asses off every day to represent that Univeristy and they have a bafoon for a coach. I don't see the humor in that.

Again...I agree that Miles is a great family guy and this is what you're saying.....but ALL of the SEC would love him to stay here for a reason.

No, I don't think Shula deserved what he got and I am not flaming.

I'm totally behind our coach. Thanks for reminding LSU fans what they may not want to hear.

Fact is Les is paid $4M and that includes coaching last I checked. If he wins, then he will stay and all will be forgotten until he does. If he loses a few this year, he will lose his job for how he represented LSU on the field, not off it.

Wut???

I hope you are not one of the Miles speak assholes.

Outstanding post...As a man, I have the utmost respect for Miles. However, Miles should not be making $4 million dollars to lead his team with such incompetence. He should be an A.D. or something

He played for Michigan for Bo who I feel certain is a hero to Miles in a lot of ways. The Michigan job came open and it was probably his dream job. However his team (your LSU Tigers) had a chance to win the NC and he stuck right by your side and probably lost the only shot he will have ever had at his dream job. He stuck by his team and led them to the NC and came home with the crystal and he did it for your team, your University, and you fans.

i have often thought about this as well, but was too scared to bring it up on the rant b/c of the numerous a holes that would blast me and forever ban me from posting here...

Scoop, I really do appreciate your posts. But at times, I think you're just doing everything in your power to keep Miles at the helm at LSU.

theking... you are an idiot.. what power does bamascoop have to keep les miles at LSU?
