Did we ever get a definitive ruling as to who is better?

Yes, of course. I gave a FACTUAL answer ( LINK) based on FACTS, that nobody reasonable can deny, because it is so purely RATIONAL, and thus anyone opposing it is merely emoting about their feelings, rather than facing the cold hard objective TRUTH. Plus, I used a spreadsheet, so it has to be right.

There were 22 times in which LSU played against an SEC team with Russell getting the majority of snaps, and in those 22 games, LSU was 16-6 and scored only 535 points in regulation, for an average of 24.32 PPG.

There were 8 times in which LSU played against an SEC team with Flynn getting the majority of snaps, and in those 8 games, LSU was 6-2 and scored 268 points in regulation, for an average of 33.50 PPG. (It would be 37.25 PPG if you included the points in overtime.)

After the 2006 season, LSU lost two WRs in the 1st Round of the Spring 2007 NFL Draft, and lost the great Jimbo Fisher to Florida State.

In the 2007 preseason, LSU's only preseason All-American on offense was Will Arnold at OG, who didn't play a single game because of that bizarre leg infection stuff. (Thus, with LSU already having to replace Brian Johnson & Peter Dyakowski with Lyle Hitt & Carnell Stewart, LSU lost a third starting offensive linemen from the 2006 team before the 2007 season started, to say nothing of the great Justin Vincent, MVP of both the SECCG and the BCS NCG from his freshman year.)

The only other offensive player on the media's preseason All-SEC team was WR Early Doucet, who was on the 2nd team ( LINK). Doucet had a freak groin injury after the Virginia Tech game, and did not play at all in the next 5 games against MTSU, South Carolina, Tulane, Florida, or Kentucky.

Matt Flynn was himself injured and missed the MTSU game, and then played through a gimpy ankle that didn't fully heal until around the same time that Doucet got back in the lineup.

Not only that, but Matt Flynn did a masterful job of dealing with having Gary Crowton as his OC, and won 5 out of 5 games at LSU against teams that ended the season ranked in the final AP poll.

Then again, I'm just having fun here...

Your entire argument is offensive PPG? I really thought you were more intelligent than that...
