Trent Johnson has struggled. O'bryant and a few other newcomers will be here next year and there is no way that we will be this bad next year. We all know how the big wigs (Athletic Director, etc...) think. They know protocol and how race relations are handled very delicately so not to step on too many fingers as they make their daily and weekly decisions on how best do their business. I have a simple question. If Trent Johnson were white, would he be fired at seasons end? I know that we can only get better, but is next year the year that he must at least go to the NIT? Are our standands now set that low as fans? Do we demand that we go to the NCAA tourney, which is now expanded to 68 teams? If we can't be one of the best 68 teams then something is wrong. Is Trents skin color buying him some time?

I don't think so.

I think we must show marked improvement next year, but I don't know if post season play or a certain record is the criteria.

No, most rational fans, which don't post on here, knew it would be a bad two to three years and it wasn't going to be a quick turn around. I was hoping for better and didn't think it was going to be this bad, but I was prepared for it to be bad. I'm willing to give TJ another year to show improvement. After that, I will rant away with the masses.

Black coaches are common in basketball and don't get to hold their job because a school is afraid of what it will look like

I actually thought that TJ would be a better recruiter than JB because of his skin color (or has a better chance to get top prospects to consider LSU) but...

I think TJ deserves 1 more year, at least.

The OP obviously has not watched how guys like Ricardo Patton, Melvin Watkins, Tommy Amaker, Nolan Richardson, and Al Skinner turned out.

ETA: Most of these guys had success before getting fired. Only Nolan Richardson in this list had the race issue being discussed with him.

Tell that to U. of Arkansas...re: Nolan Richardson.
If you fire a black coach, you will get sued.

Saintfans22 .... Dude, all you can do is call people stupid and ignorant yet you refuse to discuss the issue. So, are you the ignorant one? Don't run people down without stating your reason for doing so. Can u understand what I'm saying?

No, You have to give a coach a few years, at least 4 or 5. You can't keep a revolving door of coaches.
