Can't tell you exactly why I feel that way, but he laid a great foundation in '16 from which to launch from.

I really don't understand the criticism of Etling by a lot on this board. He's not Drew Brees but we've had far far worse starting quarterbacks recently. I hope he does improve, but I think he's done a great job this season, all things considered.

well he didn't make that many huge mistakes. So he just needs to go from manager to playmaker

Etling has the awareness to run Canada's shift oriented offense and the focus on horizontal passing should play to Etling's arm well.

I'm not saying you cant win with a game manager but a playmaker is better.

Go look at mauck and Flynn production, way better than Etling

Etling compares statistically almost identically to another LSU qb......

Just being factual. Mauck threw from 28tds one year

He is compared to Etling for one reason

The ability to get a sunburn

Just minor improvement would be excellent. He's already a very good QB. Give him just half of the passes Dupre dropped and whole different perception.

Re Harris and Etling, I've read what I hope are all of your posts on the issue. It's not a matter of fact. It's your opinion.
But Etling ain't Mauck. On that we agree

That's the entire premise of the OP. I can see him getting to that level next year.

I guess it is gonna be this again. Tell everybody over and over again how your hand picked stats make your unbreakable case.
Carry on.

If LSU wants to succeed next year, we will need considerable improvement from the qb position be it by Etling or whomever else

Etling gets you a Par. Ed didn't get hired to make a Par.

I do not see Etling making any kind of jump. He hit his ceiling this year and that will not take us far next year. The only thing I see over and over with the want for DE only mentions intangibles that he is average in as well. Toughness is the best thing going for him. We can do better in every other area that he provides.

He stats have looked the same since high school so he is who he is. What do people think they're going to see improve next year? Just my opinion. He has the least upside of any QB on roster or entering LSU.

Funny how people use to mention stats when talking other QB's, but nobody wants to hear them when people prove DE's inept QB play. If he walks out of a real QB competition, he will prove that he is the guy.
