People in the South love baseball. People in the North, love basketball, even the women's variety. You will never convince an LSU fan that women's b-ball is more thrilling than baseball. Just like you'll never convince a Uconn &/or a unc fan that baseball is a greater sport than women's b-ball. Before Skip Bertman, you probably wouldn't have convinced many LSU fans either!

First, I guarantee that any college basketball program, male or female, would be happy to get to the Final Four as many times as possible...so Pedersen's statement was just dumb. I went to all 5 Final Fours and yes, they were all disappointing. Our best chances to win it all were the 1st in NO and the last in Tampa. Coaching sunk us both times. In Tampa, we're up with 7 seconds to go...the Coach lets CP dribble unencumbered...no pressure at all...TN missed the first shot & because there was no pressure, TN had time for a second shot...after a TN player flung Ashley Thomas out of bounds, that is!

I will say this...no one expects all the Bubbas to appreciate women's bball. The championship game this year was atypical. Women's basketball is played the way basketball was played before it became all dunks & and chest-thumping, look-at-me, I'm-so-great crap. There is no doubt that men are bigger and stronger & can make unbelievable athletic dunks...but the women's game when played well is full of screens, picks, outside shots, actual plays, AND DEFENSE! They are not the same type of games, but they can both be enjoyed by basketball fans. I just wish that more of the LSU student body would support their fellow students by attending some of the women's games. Students at other schools do, but perhaps, those students are more comfortable with their masculinity & don't have to act like some neanderthal jackass putting down their fellow student-athletes to feel like real men....just saying.

Since then LSU hadn't got close to a final four and he's yet to even recruit a top 5 class.

Uh.......................no.

Van's class that came in in the fall of 2008 was rated #3 in the nation. He has the talent. The coaching is what is currently in question.

Additionally, although I like to see LSU do well in ALL SPORTS.........as opposed to others in this thread..............I really could care less about GOING to an LSU baseball game. I'd rather watch the girls basketball team, or even paint dry.

But, I still support us having winning programs in both.

I'll concede that women's basketball is more popular than baseball around the country

That was the original point that was trying to be made...
