ook I know Reed being out hurts I'm not dumb. And I actually thought Reed was going to have a big year. But that's really no excuse for terrible passing, stagnant offense, and losing shooters every time they move.

Agreed, I'd love to have Reed and to say we would not be better without him is ignorant. But how much better? Watching teams push us around physically it is hard for me to imagine the way we were using him pre-conference being very successful using him that way in SEC play. He was bigger and stronger yes, but he was coming from a point of not so big and not so strong so it's all relative IMHO.

I agree with a lot of this. The game today is a pace and space game. You want to get to the rim, get to the FT line, or shoot the 3. You need quick ball movement to create space and try and create mismatches through screening. The loss of Reed was huge because he was the mismatch. He was 6’10” who could get downhill and finish around the goal, create his own shot.
The biggest issue now is turnovers. It has been for 2 years now. We give up way too many possessions to compete in an elite league like the SEC. The other issue is roster construction. This league is uber athletic and as such your roster should be full of long athletic quick twitch players that can guard 1-5 and switch every thing.
I also think given the shortfalls we have, we have to become gimmicky to overcome those shortfalls. We should have multiple press options (2-2-1, 1-2-1-1, run and jump, and full court man) and we should mix that with multiple half court defense.
We aren’t talented enough to play these teams straight up. We need to be different, we need to give different looks. You play twice a week, so that would be difficult for teams to prepare for. If we are going to turn it over at this rate, then we need to create more turnovers, to give ourselves a chance. I’m not saying it needs to be 1990 Loyola Merrimont but it needs to be different.

Dont kid yourself, no one on this board knows what a good offense looks like. If we score a lot of points hes a genius. If we dont, hes a bum. The basketball iq on this board is extremely low.

I guess you are omnipotent…speak for yourself next time.

I grew up with basketball and football coaches in my family, and basketball was my first love.

At the basic level, his teams lack court awareness and spacing when the first option breaks down…easy to see

I agree with this - we are not beating many people in the SEC in a half court straight up game with this roster, we're just not physical and tough enough as constructed. We really struggle on both ends in the half court due to this.

Need to try to run, do some trapping and pressing and mixing things up as you say. Likely won't work against the better teams but against the 2 we just played I think it may give us a better chance.
