But if he had that JUCO time, lead drives in the northwestern game, and still isn't comfortable enough with the playbook at the end of this season, then I don't see how we can expect him to come out guns blazing next season.

Even if he had memorized the playbook from cover to cover, there was no way that Miles was pulling JJ out of that game. He made the decision to lose with JJ rather than try Lee or any of the others.

Mop-up time.

"First year player" means first year at LSU.

Genius.

I think we're going to have another dual system.

We didn't have a dual system this year. It would've been JJ the whole way if Shady's didn't happen in Fall Camp.

FWIW,
the guys I met with from Rivals this week thinks LSU won't win any form of a championship with him. Of course, they thought Bama's QB would lose the game for them too.

I don't think he will be guns blazing or Drew Brees but I think he will certainly be better than what we saw this season from either QB.

What a well thought out counterargument.

Youre absolutely crazy if you think anyone other than Mett is going to start next season!

grow up people.
cam newton learns playbooks in 3 seconds, whether it's jr. college where he starts game one and finishes no. one. exact same thing at Auburn(don't forget brown envelope $200,000 cash), starts game one finishes no.1 then ;on to NFL, starts game one knows everthing.

Is Rivers a backup during his time here or does he have a legit chance of growing into something more and maybe being a QB of his brothers caliber one day?

Based on how can he be fricking worse. Just watching him warm up, you can see he has a really strong arm. His juco film was good, he played well in the spring game, and he didn't have to deal with crowtons bull shite for 3 years.

Probably knows it as well as JJ or Lee but Miles was never going to give him a shot at any significant playing time.

It was all about JJ to the extent that Miles cost us in the Big Game.

Mett's the guy....did you see rivers taking any snaps in garbage time this season? And don't even say randle or Keil because we all know how Les loves seniority at the qb position.

Mett is a LOCK!

If Jared Randall is close to Mett in overall ability, wouldn't Miles opt for Randall for the same reasons he opted for JJ?

i think we find out next year that Mett should have been starting this year.

Mett could have gone 40/40 for 650 yards, 8 touchdowns with 3rd string personnel against the #1 defense in the spring game and he still would not have sniffed the field this year.

Agreed. Mett is the only LSU QB that may be ready.
Rivers might not be ready for back-up QB and the IND. Freshman will take a red-shirt if Rivers is good enough as a back-up. That is all they HAVE. Randall has been moved to WR.

I hope this is all a joke...

Mett will be the starter next year. Period. Randall will NOT take a meaningful snap

So you think the only reason a first year player, who has taken a very limited number of snaps in mop-up duty, didn't jump two seniors to play in a National Title Game is because "he didn't know the playbook?"

Couldn't have phrased it better myself
