so why does the SEC have the worst refs? Do they just hire poorly? Or is it because as an LSU fan you really only have a rooting interest in games involving SEC refs?
Because anytime somebody talks shite about the refs they get thrown under the bus! So they all have this holier than thou attitude that nobody can do shite to em. If a coach speaks out about poor officiating they get hit with a fine from the sec commish. It is a joke.

quote:That is equally true of all aspects of bad play. If your team shoots 45% from the free throw line and wins, you're not as likely to spend much time bitching about the poor free throw shooting as you are if they had lost. Doesn't make the observation any less valid.
But the one common denominator that seems to apply to threads about the "bad officiating" is that they appear on the board(s) of the losing team(s). Very seldom do fans of a winning team spend much time discussing the refs, they just want to focus celebrating a win.

quote:Oh, on another note, I don't generally like to get into the "[x] conference has the worst officials in the country" debates, because I have seen enough football games around the country to conclude that officiating sucks pretty bad in general. I will say that the Pac 10 does seem to stand out in actually admitting it when their officials screw (at least sometimes). I'm not sure the SEC has ever done that . . . I think maybe once in a Bama game a few years ago (maybe the Webster Pass Interference/LSU-Bama game?).
As a fan of a Pac-10 team, I thought that the Pac-10 had the worst officials in the country.
