I can’t stand watching SEC basketball

It’s not because of the quality/style of play. It’s not the atmosphere of the games. It’s these damn refs. I don’t know of other leagues that call SO MANY fouls. They completely take over these games and make it unbearable to watch. I’m not complaining about them necessarily getting calls wrong nor am I saying that they’re the reason anyone has one any particular games (although I’m sure I could find examples of that), but when they’re calling 35+ fouls on a daily basis, it gets very hard to watch. Way too many ticky-tack/phantom calls. I’m the type of person that likes to watch as much basketball as I can, and even I can’t watch this crap.
ETA: I’m watching Maryland vs Michigan State right now, and the flow of this game is very clearly better. This game and the Auburn game started at the same time. This one has 1 minute left while the Auburn game still has 7 minutes left.

Technical on #5 was questionable and I thought they called a few on the ground that I thought were in the process but it wasnt the worst game i’d seen called. Both teams were setting really shitty screens on the perimeter.

The rules seem to change alot. But blaming the refs is pointless.

I’m not referencing any games specifically. just saying that they need to lay off their whistles and allow games to play out. too much stoppage. My point is that I find it very hard to watch any SEC basketball games that don’t involve LSU

They call alot of weak arse ticky-tack fouls man. Most ofnthe time the player they call the foul on didn't even touch the guy, it's like they anticipate a foul everytime a player goes into the lane for a layup. It really is pathetic and not right. I've also seen them blow alot of calls that should have been fouls as well.

Seriously this Mizzou auburn game is ridiculous. Both teams have been in the double bonus since around the 8 minute mark

I agree with your point, but I don't think there is such a thing as sec officials in basketball. We just get assigned random refs that live in the region. We seem to get that ABSOLUTE JACKASS fred "hey look at me" valentine once or twice a year, though.

Yeah, my BIL is constantly harping on our student section, always telling me to watch other games and other student sections, whether they are behind the goal or not...and how much more into the game and engaged almost every one is than ours.
I can't really argue. I think we just have a generation of kids who have grown up here not caring about hoops and therefore not knowing a lot about the game and that just doesn't change overnight, unfortunately.
