We played 1/2 of a team in week 1 (13 guys didn't make the trip) and squeaked out a win.

We didn't finish them off, but it was a blowout at one point in time.

Even still, that half team just beat Clemson. So they aren't exactly a scrub team. They are probably still more talented than Vandy or MSU.

you must be young. Because a lot of guys in the mid 90's were heading out of state. To Miami. To Michigan. To Florida State. To Tennessee.

saban's recruiting was good at LSU.. but is vastly over-rated.

in no way was it overrated. His 2nd class is the most important class in LSU history.

shite on that 2003 natonal title team, like 85% of the starters on both sides the ball were LA players.

Nick Saban put the fence around LA when it wasnt there in the past. Like 100% locked up, with little leakage.

I was a Les Miles fan long before I ever knew he'd be the coach at LSU. I lived in Oklahoma and watched him beat vastly superior OU teams with OSU scrub rosters.

I remember those games. I wish he would coach like that now. He coached to win, like he had nothing to lose.

Too many times during his tenure have i asked myself "why isnt he coaching to win the game?"

People in Oklahoma mocked him then for being goofy, but seemed to unanimously agree he was a good coach.

he wasn't under the microscope.

I still think attrition had a lot to do with the past 2 years of let downs (though last year we were really an "almost there" team, playing so many close ones).

to me, its been QB play and stubborness to make changes and be creative.

That very possibly could still be our downfall. We shall see. I hope it isnt.

I honestly think this year will say a lot about Les and his future at LSU.

If we end up in the 9-3 neighborhood without something tragic happening (like JJ AND Lee getting hurt), then that probably means we're in store for years of mediocrity (for LSU) until he gets fired/retires.

If we rally and end up with 0, 1 or maybe even 2 losses (depending on where they come), there still might be a lot to be optimistic about.

Here's why I like Les... I was talking to a Bama fan recently, and he was explaining how Bama was far superior to LSU and how we had no chance of beating them this year. This came to an abrupt stop when he realized I was grinning like I knew something he didn't. He asked why I was smiling. I said, "I wonder what ridiculous turn of events Miles will whip up to beat you guys", and he literally went white. His logic was irrelevant. LSU has a trump card. Sheer chaos. There is no defense against sheer chaos.

And this is not just Les Miles. LSU has the mojo too. How many times have we seen an all-American kicker miss a chip shot field goal when the game is on the line? The Bluegrass Miracle. It's been there all along. And in the midst of this we drop the mad hatter. A man with the exact same mojo. Bizarre things happen when Les is on the sideline. How else did he manage to take 2 of 3 from OU when he was at OK State? Put both together and it's ridiculous. Let the chaos ensue! The chaos loves us!

Les Miles belongs at LSU.

He wasn't, you're right.

But Stoops at this time is what Saban/Meyer are now.

He was THE best coach in CFB. The highest paid guy.

And Miles took teams that probably have maybe 1 or 2 NFL players right now into Norman (where they NEVER lose) and beat him. This was his first year on the job. He beat him again in his 2nd year.

Then he got blown out, and then played him extremely close again (and nearly beat him with a QB that ended his career at LBer).

I just can't believe a coach who does that is lucky or shitty, I suppose.

he would have laughed in your face if he has watched LSU over the last 2.5 years

But he had... He knows how close last years game was. If the refs hadn't stolen PP's interception, who knows what chaos might have ensued.

I'm not sure I buy into the chaos theory, but I do think the relatively unpredictable way Miles coaches does make it harder for teams to coach against him.

Exactly, Lester! Charisma equals top notch recruits that are working their tails off. Chaos equals a little luck along the way. That's a winning combo!

Call it what you will Dan. Personally I think we should tell everyone that Pappa LeRoux, a voodoo priest from NOLA, is giving us a little help now and then.

All you Les Miles supporters are gone if LSU loses to Ole Miss or R Kansas. Just saying. The Les Miles Bandwagon was tucked away behind a duck blind until this week.

I have no negative Les Miles posts. Not sure everyone on this thread can say the same.

Les is Les. He recruits well and has integrity. I can live with that.

You obviously haven't read any of the thread.

I've liked Miles since his Oklahoma State days, and I lived in Oklahoma when it happened... and this was long before I ever knew he'd be the coach here.

If we drop the next six games, I'm still gonna like Les Miles.

And yes, even if we lose two or three more games, I will still love him.

By your own words, you love Les more than LSU. The record doesn't matter as long as you have Les. Pitiful.

Lest we forget, another reason to be proud of Les is the fact that Ryan Perilloux is no longer on this team, a decision we should all still support.

This seems to be the decision that has damaged him the most. When it first came out that he cut RP loose, everyone "supported" him (and even claimed they admired him for it). Then, when RP's void couldn't be filled by the new guys, everyone suffered from amnesia (or, they blamed our problems on other [less plausible] areas).

I would love to see J Lee kill it for the rest of his tenure here. Then Les can look back on the decision to ditch RP without feeling like he got punished for doing the right thing.

Oh, and for what it's worth, I must admit that even though I think Les is dope, I wavered a bit on him. I'm glad, like with J. Lee, he made me eat crow.

I don't understand people like you. That's awesome that you have been a faithful Les supporter. Really. What negates that, however, is the fact that you're self-righteous about it. Nothing is more annoying than smug people.

I am beyond sick of people saying Les Miles = Larry Coker. Coker inherited a Miam team that just won a NC. Miles inherited a team that had 3 losses and lost the Citrus bowl game.

Coker at Miami 12-0, 12-1, 11-2, 9-3, 9-3, 7-6. Miles record was not as linear. 06 was an improvement over 05 and 07 over 06. 09 an improvement over 08.

All you who think Saban craps gold bars need to remember he lost to UAB and Arkansas in 2000 -Unranked. Ole Miss unranked in 2001, Unranked Arkansas in 2002 and Florida in 2003.

Les is Les... Live with it and embrace it.

Nope. My point is that if we lose 6 more games, Les will get canned, and I'll still love him. I just love the guy, regardless of how he turns out as a coach (but I think it will turn out well).
