did you hear what mark gottfried said on tv, he said i am sure this is not what LSU envisioned when they fired john brady, for everyone to be giving this team a pass is bullshite, we won the SEC last year and everyone is hoping we win one game in the conference, this is out right embarrassing. we fired brady because people were not going the games, come on. i still do not understand why when tj got the job he did not hit the road immediately, brady had a top five class coming. brady left him with a dream team and its still his fault he didnt leave him another one, wtf. he left him with plenty to build on in his second year and he put no one in there to help. look at our recruits next year and see who else was recruiting those guys. miss st and ole miss didnt even recruit stringer, hes 5'10. without a future nbaer i guess we will be the next vanderbilt in bb

Right.
Before Brady was fired, the teams record was 8-13. The starting 5 was basically the same, with the exception of Randolph (who is now in the NBA) starting instead of Tas. The next year, through the first 21 games, the team went 17-4 and later won the SEC title under Trent. It's amazing how much of a difference a coach can make.
We lost A LOT of experience when Thorton, Temple, Q, Martin, and CJ left. Tas and Bo were only major contributors from last year's team to come back. And today, two walk ons and two true freshman got significant playing time. Everyone knew this season would be a struggle, thats why the team is being a "free pass".
Look at UCLA this season, they lost a lot of guys too and thats considered a "basketball school". It happens everywhere and is part of the game. Give Trent some time, it's only his second year for crying out loud. As long as Trent stays at LSU, the future looks bright.

This was not really the same team. Several differences:
Chris Johnson broke his hand and missed almost half the SEC schedule in 2008 and was still playing hurt when he returned
The players had another year of experience in 2009
Tasmin Mitchell missed all but three games in 2008. His play this year and last certainly attest to the hole he left in the lineup. Granted Randolph was on the team and offset Taz' abscence some, but Randolph did not have the basketball smarts Taz displays. H ehas incredible athletic skills, but Taz is more consistent all around.
The team had to shift gears and alter it's rotation 3 times when Quinton Thornton, then Taz then CJ were injured.

I agree. The offensive flow certainly slowed to a crawl when Trent went back to his favorites.
The Beattie kid was the last player cut in the open tryouts last year. He was a prolific scorer in HS (1200+ pts) but hasnt played competitively for two years. He flew under the radar out of HS because he didnt play AAU.
In his limited time he has shown some real ability to score especially today with his baseline drive and the ball fake/sidestep on the three ball. Playing him more certainly couldnt be any worse than what we are seeing from the normal reserves. He was ovematched defensively against Polynice but coaching could prevent those matchups.
