What about this....

The Power 4 conferences merge, do a little shuffling, and set up 6 roughly equal divisions.
Which closely resemble what we once knew as the SEC, ACC, Big 10, Pac 10, Big East, and Big 12.

Do an NFL style playoff, with each division winner making the playoffs. 3 on each side. Add in a couple wildcard teams, 2 or 4. All set.

You could either leave it officially SEC vs Big 10, or just seed it each year (1-4-5 vs 2-3-6).
