Back injury per PM. He will be reevaluated next week. Tough loss....

I'd expect Gilbert to become the closer now with Bain/Reynolds as setup.

Wonder how long this has been going on? Newman has not looked like himself.

This makes Lange and Poche dominating games very very important. We need them both to go 7-8 innings of good pitching now in nearly every start.

Hess may become a very important piece in middle relief now also. Peterson's struggles scares me. Was hoping he would be a solid arm to bridge the gap between starter and closer.

Well, this makes a bad bullpen awful......hopefully its not long, or our bats really wake up

Bullpen was far from being bad. I think thin would be a better word. Bain/Gilbert/Newman were a solid group to handle tight games. That's enough with how our starters have thrown.

I'm not ready to melt yet, but things seem to be beginning to unravel. I will hang on to see how SEC play goes. Finishing 1 or 2 in the SEC regular season locks a national seed (and the midweeks become meaningless).

Finishing 3-4 in SEC and a decent SEC tourney showing gets national seed done most likely.

Finishing 5-6 with SEC tourney win may also do it. I think this team can accomplish this.

Maybe against Maryland and Wichita State..... 3 game series against Florida and the likes are a different story

This is about as bad a news as you can get right now.

This is not 2011
Team still has a lot of talent.
Starters will be asked to do the heavy lifting.

With the bullpen, pitchers out, unreliable arms, they won't make it out of loser's bracket and I have not seen enough pitching to make me think they have a chance in Omaha if they make it.

Florida's offense is exactly lighting it up. They have one of the worst offenses in the SEC right now.

Any correlation with the "old guys" in the program getting hurt (wearing out)? Cartwright...Norman...Newman.

We just need to hope that Austin Bain or Caleb Gilbert turn into 2015 Zach Jackson.
