just tell him that he is right. tell him that saban's players are gone and this is what's left. just play his game, dude.

If you watched this kid in mop up duty or on special teams he just jumps out at you as a player. Ali was a good leader and was always in good position, but Riley is a different type of player. His explosiveness if off the charts. He's going to show out this year.

It doesn't matter. This is not about talent. We got abused last year because our linebacking was inherently fricked up.

I've heard Perry Riley is a monster. Beckwith will have another year's experience so he should be better. IMO the only question mark will be Sheppard.

Wow, so your friend watched some of the games last year and saw how opposing offenses attacked LSU's defense? What a soothsayer.

54,56, and 52 got alot of pt last year,,, with DB calling shots and CJ pushed up our middle will be fine. corners is where i bwlieve we will struggle.

whell i think it all has to come into perspective. by most teams standards i think our LB corps will be very good. by top 10 caliber teams it may be less than others. every defense (regardless of whether sport or militant) has some sort of weakness and its possible that our "weakness" will be the LB. that doesnt mean they will suck. it might just mean that they are the least badass of the badass.

Gotta have talent to exploit anything, and well--it's Bama.

What the hell is your problem? Them's fighting words.

Then why didn't Riley start last year in his place. Riley may play as good as Ali did last year, but to say he is an upgrade is quite a stretch.

I think we will be more athletic with linebackers that make plays sans luke sanders.

Shepperd, Cut, Clemons may have more pure talent than Sanders, but I haven't seen enough of either of them to make a realistic comparison. I would think that at the miminum we upgrade athleticism at the position.
So you have seen enough of riley to say he is upgrading an ALL-SEC linebacker, but havent seen enough of Shep,Cut or Clemmons to say they are an upgrade from Luke Sanders????

Good thing you didn't name the school.

We all know seniors don't sit on a Les Miles team.
Even though I thought someone would be able to supplant sanders but oh well.

I think we'll actually be better at the LB position this year and last year's LB corp was good enough to help us win the NC. Beckwith is the best LB we've had since Brady James and Shepard, Riley, and Cutrera are all three as physically and athletically gifted as any LB we've had in recent history. It may be the fastest LB corp we've ever had and we didn't have to sacrifice size. I just hope they all get healthy and stay healty b/c depth is a concern. In other words, your friend doesn't know shite!

How worried should we be about our Linebacker corps?
A friend of mine, who goes to a rival SEC school which shall go unnamed, says that our LB corps is the mushy cream-filled middle of our defense and that teams will abuse us on short 5-10 yard passes up the middle.

The only argument your friend might have is that we lack experience for our backups. If we get some key injuries, this will be the "weak" link of the D. Considering we have a semi-pro D-line and our secondary is chuck full of future NFL talent, that won't make much of a difference
