How smart does SEC look with their BCS tiebreaker now?

That little clause that says in a three way tie, if two teams are within 5 spots of each other, the head to head matchup comes in to play?

UT is gettin hosed, hosed, hosed.

I've always thought that the cumulative conference record of conference opponents should be a tiebreaker far before any BCS rankings come into play. But to the best of my knowledge, no conference has such a tiebreaker. It's shocking, really.

UT is not getting hosed. People forget it was not a 2 way tie it was a 3 way tie. If Texas was in Big 12 title game, Texas Tech would have had every right to complain. All Texas had to do was big Tech and they couldn't do it.

The Big 12 decided that OU was the best of the three via the tiebreaker they had in place.

I agree, but I think even in that case UT,OU and TT were all tied.

That would be amazing, if it's true. They didn't play all the same teams in the North, so it would really be strange if the different combinations of Big XII North teams each one played all combined to have exactly the same conference record.

And the SEC's tie breaker isn't better than the Big 12.

I wanted to have Mal Moore decide Tennessee's fate in 2003, that would have been more fun

Wow. That's really weird.

Big XII North Opponents

For Oklahoma
Nebraska, 5-3
Kansas, 4-4
Kansas State, 2-6
Cumulative = 11-13

For Texas
Missouri, 5-3
Kansas, 4-4
Colorado, 2-6
Cumulative = 11-13

For Texas Tech
Nebraska, 5-3
Kansas, 4-4
Kansas State, 2-6
Cumulative = 11-13

SEC tiebreaker would have had UT in the conference championship - because they beat OU.

Any way you slice it, OU < UT because they played straight up. UT got hosed.

TT and OU played the same North Teams, Kansas/KState/Nebraska.

Texas played Mizzo/Nebraska/Colorado.

Mizzo and Nebraska were 5-3, Kansas was 4-4, K State and Colorado were 2-6.

Since you think eliminating one team and then using head to head is the way to go in a THREE team tie, I take it you think we should play the Red Raiders, and not the Longhorns, in the Fiesta, correct?
