I've had an e-mail exchange with the guy who's in charge of the licensing etc. They think the explosion in sales of LSU merchandise can be attributed to Toonces. I responded that I believe it had a lot more to do with winning National Championships than changing the logo to the god awful toonces. Also let them know that as an alum I won't buy a single LSU item with the Toonces logo. Here's the guy's e-mail if anyone would like to chime in on toonces. Not giving away private information, I found it by looking it up on LSU's site just as anyone could. He was nice enough, so don't be foolish if you e-mail, just tell him your thoughts in a nice way on toonces and how you prefer the traditional tiger head (that's been with us for over a hundred years by the way). The guy who's supervision this fell under when I e-mailed last year was Vice Chancellor Eric Monday - emonday@lsu.edu . I got a response from Brian Hommel - bhommel@lsu.edu . So take your pick.

I'd be in favor of using the Geaux font to replace the current LSU.

One responded to me. It was a well written, respectful e-mail. What's the harm? There was a decision to introduce toonces, I'm sure with input from a lot of people. There should be input to put that awful logo to rest!

If LSU Merchandise stops selling, they'll change it. Right now, it still sells with Toonces. Until they have data that states otherwise, it will not change.

Not defending Toonces here, but it's not completely horrible.....
I don't buy Toonces stuff because I like the other logos better (particularly the old Tiger head that's currently on the helmet), but I'm not completely freakin' emotional about it either....
