That’s not what he’s trying to do. This version of the XFL is for tweeners who are still elite athletes with zero college eligibility and not good enough for (or expendable to) the NFL. There’s room in this country for a league like that as long as they stay in their lane. A coup for the XFL would be pulling Tebow away from baseball or to convincing a former superstar NFLer who’s past his prime to come over for more money than the NFL is willing to pay him. Think MLS in soccer.

The XFL is a much a business move by Disney & Fox as it is by McMahon.

No accident that it was launched during the NFL's negotiations with major networks for the next long-term NFL/network deals.
