Matt Mauck and Matt Flynn executed this really well, and led the reciever well.

This play can really balance the offensive approach and aid the effectiveness of the offense.

JJ needs to learn to lead the receiver well. How many this weekend can he execute?

0?
1?
2?
3?
4?
5?

I say 2

Have we run this play even one time since Jimbo left?

This is supposedly a safe pass, but its actually hard to execute. If you are off a little bit, you get your receiver smoked, or he backtracks so much to catch it that he gets caught for a loss. I don't think its the right call for Jefferson, its a long short pass.

How about the jailbreak screen? Where in hell did that play go?

Five fewer times than we run the option to short side of the field.

This is definitely a play that plays into JJ's strength and weakness at the same time. He only has one person to look at on this play, which helps him, but it equates to a medium range throw. I think we should stay run first and let him stare down receivers on multiple short routes, then take a chance staring someone down deep.

FWIW, I like JJ, but it is known that he does this. I don't hate on our players.

Yeah, not lately though. The beginning of last season we ran it. Crowton's first year we threw it to Early a good bit.

Yeah, we ran the crap out of it with Doucet and Bowe in 2006 because of them were excellent blockers. Russell could zip it on the money 9 times out of 10.

Mauck was the king of the bubble screen...Flynn didn't really run the play with Crowton in 07, although he was great at the slip screen to a back. I don't recall Russell in 06, but I remember he had a hell of a time with that throw in 04 and 05.

We just ran it more in 2003. The offense with Mauck at the helm was a run first, don't turn the ball over offense.

Mauck ran it well, but not nearly as well as Russell.

The slip screen in 2007 was a great play. Too bad Crown replaced the Miles/Fisher hybrid offense for his terrible offense after the 2007 season.

it was primarily an audible for Mauck to check into in 2003...and very successful. Sorry, but this was the one play where Mauck was better than Russell...IMHO of course

Zero. Jj can't run it. Which is a shame. I'm assuming lee can do it better but last time he ran it loston took it to the crib.

i asked the same question a few days ago. I don't think we have. It used to be money with Skyler Green. I guess it just makes too much sense...

We ran the bubble for Skyler quite a bit in 2003 with much more success from Mauck with it than any of our other quarterbacks.
