'they' still talk about LSU baseball too.. i honestly just dont see that 1 final four, that we got embarrassed in (even though it was awesome beating Texas and Duke and actually being in the final four) brings any more exposure, over the long term, than being on TV for 3 straight weeks every year for the baseball postseason.. and having LSU talked about as the pinnacle of college baseball.. and announcers constantly discussing the Alex Box experience.. or talking about how LSU fans invade Omaha every year..

look, i know that we are both LSU fans of all sports.. the difference, i guess, is that you are a bigger basketball fan, where i am a bigger baseball fan.. but i still wouldnt trade that final four for another baseball title..

Publicity = $$, better recruits, more national exposure on t.v....example...Syracuse w/ Boehiem...has 1 national title..and people still talk about it..and Syracuse is still a power house.
Hell...they still bring up LSU as a final 4 team from a few years ago..that final 4 still gives us a little credit...I couldn't imagine how they would talk about LSU on national t.v. through out the year if we became consistent threat. Look at Gonzaga..they still haven't made a final 4 and they still get a ton of coverage which = money/excitement...on and on.
you think Gonzaga would trade their exposure for 6 baseball national titles? No..it doesn't bring nearly the $$$ or recognition

First of all if LSU won one NC in Basketball it will bring a lot of screwballs on this board alone if they did not end winning it every year just as the Football team has. It might bring some in but in order to get there you have to put something in. If everyone on this board attended the games the way they spew evil words on here there would be a lot of players wanting to come to LSU to play Basketball, but there is the problem the fans themselves do not give a rats a-double-s about it until they start winning. We all know that is not going to happen until LSU, the Fans and Supporters start supporting the program the way it should. It takes hard work from everyone involved to become a winning program and in Basketball it is not going to happen until people around LSU starts caring enough to win.

It took a lot of hard work for Skip to make LSU a powerhouse in Baseball and make it consistant high draw every year. When Basketball starts doing this then Basketball will start to build back what it lost. LSU had a chance to make it in the big time but when Dale Brown left so did the Fans and the LSU admin and that is where problem lies, you can not stop going, you can not stop supporting when things aren't quite right and when things are down. Watch what happens after this year at North Carolina, they have had a down year this year but they will be back sooner than later because they are committed to their Basketball Program. That is what it takes is committment by everyone involved to make a program no matter what sport, so why teardown what it took a lot of hard work and committment to build just because another program is not doing what it takes to be a winner. Until that happens LSU Basketball will always be Johnny come lately where no one cares. I want to see it happen just as much as the next guy, but LSU has to start showing that they want the program to be successful then and only then will it begin to come back and be a viable program again. They can not only do it for a short time it has to be a total and longtime investment and show the Kid's that they care enough to invest in them then they will want to come to LSU and make LSU a good Basketball program.

Who said anything about tearing down baseball? You can't ACTUALLY trade a championship in one sport for another... I should have just worded the question: which would you prefer: six baseball championships or one basketball championship?

Look... there is no correct answer. If you prefer LSU baseball to LSU basketball more power to you. But if you think that college baseball is anywhere close to basketball in exposure, popularity, or prestige you're delusional. College baseball rates behind women's basketball.

Incorrect.

The ratings for last year's LSU-Texas championship series were the highest rated games ever for the CWS. The numbers aren't as big as the Final Four, but they are still good.

i do think that two decades of dominance in college baseball has given LSU more exposure than the basketball team has in that same time frame.. i also think that baseball is more popular at LSU.. i also think that the baseball team has brought LSU more prestige than the basketball team.. none of which makes me delusional..

basketball is way bigger at lsu. Moderate basketball success brings more attention than multiple national championships in baseball. Who can honestly say that if Basketball had had the success that baseball has over the last 15 years that baseball wouldn't be an after-thought?

20 years ago Lsu basketball was bigger than baseball has ever been here and they didn't sniff a national title

LSU baseball is the best story in college baseball over the last 20 years

Diminishing that for a championship in basketball? Don't see the return

I would love to see the basketball program grow and dominate... and yes eventually win a national championship...

but sports programs largely deserve the success and failure they have... I wouldn't trade away a hard won baseball title for a basketball title when frankly our basketball people haven't done the work to deserve one

Choosing between being the best baseball program in college recently and having one basketball title?

Easy choice, baseball by a mile

i don't know how many people came. The basketball arena holds more people for a reason, though.

I was more talking about buzz and excitement. Maybe you are too young to remember that era.

trippy question and heated responses.

interesting.

the fans love their LSU baseball.

Its a reflection of something deeper, in my opinion.

You would get the same answers in some northern states about hockey. They would rather win NCAA hockey than basketball.
