Just wondering how long people will keep apologizing for LM putting trust in a QB that showed repeatedly that he could be trusted. After he finally got kicked off the team, now we have to give LM 4 years to get over loosing him? It is on him if he could not see the writing on the walls that almost all of the fanbase could see. Maybe before the season, maybe during the season, maybe the night before a big game, it was gonna happen! He would do something stupid again! Another QB should have been getting those reps in practice and in the spring game and should have been ready to step in. And yes, I know that has nothing to do with the O-line problems and I dont want to hear how noone wanted to come here and sit the bench. You are the same people who say LM is a recruiting GENIOUS.

Despite the fact that post has stupid spread all over it, I'll bite.

Both Nick Saban AND Les Miles were bitten in the arse by the glut of talent at the QB position. In the 2004 class (that's basically two months after LSU won the NC) Nick Saban signed ZERO QB's. None. Nada. Had the greatest coach who's ever lived signed a blue chip QB in 2004, he'd have been a true senior in 2007 or a RS senior in 2008. Hey...that would have ben good to have! But guess what? He couldn;t sign a blue chipper because we had a RS freshman JaMarcus Russell, a RS Freshman Matt Flynn already in the stable. Does Nick Saban get a pass here...or do you understand why you can't pile QB on top of QB?

In 2006 we were in much the same boat. Going into the 2006 season LSU had a RS Junior JaMarcus Russell and a RS Junior Matt Flynn. There was no guarantee that Russell was going anywhere. Oh...did I forget to mention that we also had a RS Freshman Ryan Perriloux...the highest rated QB recruit to come out of LA seince Bert Jones? Is it really that surprising that we couldnt bring in a blue cip QB with that QB staff?

Blaming Miles for not having blue chip replacements line up because we all knew Perriloux was a frick up and would never last is blindingly stupid. How exactly do you recruit a blue chip QB with Perriloux on the staff as a RS freshman plus 2 RS juniors...assure the new guy that he'll likely play because you'll probably have to kick Perriloux off the team?!?

Miles signed Lee in 2007 DESPITE having a RS sophmore Perriloux on the staff and then signed Jefferson despite everyone thinking Perriloux would be the LSU superstar for 2008 and 2009.

In hindsight, we'd have been better off to have never signed Perriloux...but that's why they call it hindsight. Suggesting LSU should have passed on Ryan Perriloux at the time based on orries about what MIGHT happened would have gone over like a fart in church with LSU fans...

RP was suspended for spring practice. They did get the reps.

I understand at the time he couldnt pass on him. But, I also know people who went to high school with him and said he was in trouble the entire time. He got shot in the leg while tryng to carjack his sisters boyfriend! I guess what Im saying is I understand somewhat other blue chippers being reluctant, but in my opinion RP should have been kicked off long before he was and if he hadnt failed a drug test he probably would still be on the team, more than likely susupended, but stil on the team.

I believe GeauxTigerTM explained perfectly. Do you understand now or can do we need to continue this stupid thread?

And we'd still be where we're at right now.

I stil dont give LM a pass for keeping RP on the team as long as he did. If it has cost us recruits and 2+ years it is his fault.

Assuming you grasp why we brought in the highest rated QB in Louisiana in nearly 40 years, when EXACTLY should Miles have booted his arse? I need a date, or at leasta time of year and year. At that point, we can start to look at just how that would have effected the team and recruiting.

Secondly, do you give NiCk Saban a pass for not getting a big time QB recruit in the 2004 class? If Nick had done that, there's ZERO chance that LSU could have signed Ryan Perriloux, thus making this entire argument null and void.

The QB problem will be ok next year. OLINE problem could take a new OLINE coach plus 2 years. We have 0 Junior OLINE and only 1 healthy SOPH OLINE player as reserves.

No Im not even getting into a Saban debate. Without giveng andy date or incident, you know as well as I do there were things going on with RP the entire time he was here. We all heard about enough stupid things he did to kick him off and Im sure there were atleast that many more things that were kept quiet.
