Now that Harbaugh to Michigan is a done deal, how long after the bowl does Chavis wait to sign.

The rumor was that Chavis was protecting himself from a clause in the contract which specified any new HC would not be required to honor his contract.

Some time after the bowl game and the end of season meetings when they put a wrap on the 2014 season.

Do you think it happens before the All-star games this weekend? Coaching uncertainty tends to dissuade recruits. I'd hate to lose Mack over something like this.

I understand why you guys aren't nervous about Chavis going to A&M. He is familiar with LSU, the coaching staff, and the LA area. He has done an incredible job fielding top 20 defenses every single year even after losing so many players on that side of the ball to the NFL.

However, having said that, why is it LSU doesn't think he is worth more than a $33k raise. That to me is ridiculous. Chavis is currently paid $1.3m a year right? Muschamp just got $1.7m a year. Seems to me LSU should have no qualms about paying him $1.5m a year to show a little more appreciation unless you guys truly think he can easily be replaced.

Fairly certain his deal was finalized before Muschamp

Then he'd be dumb to resign for $4m/3 yrs instead of renegotiating for a better deal. My guess is that is what is going on. He is either playing TAMU for an offer to up the deal or just stalling until it is worked out.

If he would leave sign Bo Pelini. He is a great DC - not so great a HC. I realize he wants another HC job but... worth a try if Chavez goes elsewhere.

Pelini had great blitzes and cover packages as a former DC.

Might want to check the batteries in your calculator, coach.

what are you bumping this for. Right now, LSU fans are excited with the possibility of an upgrade. Chavis had strengths, but he also had a lot of weakness that was exploited by certain coaches.
