Very very little chance the Fiesta passes on #5 LSU

I'm with you. And if they do it would be really dumb.

Only 2 things are absolutely necessary to get LSU into the BCS discussion:

I think we could be in trouble if UGA beats Bama.

Hopefully Notre Dame loses to USC, and Florida loses to FSU.

In that case, we'd be #4, and A&M would be #5.

They would have to take us.

LSU might deserve it more, but Johnny Football is a bigger draw. I don't care if every grocery store in Louisiana is sold out of corn dogs, and every coon arse in the state knows the only place to get them is Arizona, and the ones without gas money are glued to their TV. Johnny Football is still a bigger draw. Deal with it.

My opinion is that if we are one spot apart, neither being SEC Champion --- the bow would choose aTm this year. As noted, that's my opinion and I stand firm on it... they are rabid about their team, their entry to the SEC and Johnny Football --- and they outnumber almost any SEC fan base... these are simple facts, hard as they may be to accept --- the Aggie Cult is pretty strong man... it just is.

What I said, but nicer and from an LSU fan's perspective.

Typical arrogant aTm douchebag. The only reason aTm is even relevant is because of this one win. big win and good for the university, but we will see whether the man of your dreams is a bigger draw than LSU in a few weeks.

The "BCS" doesn't take anyone. The Fiesta or Rose Bowls do and they care about selling tickets and TV ratings not who beat who or taking #5 over #7 or whatever.

Sugar bowl took arkansas over LSU 2 years ago with identical 10-2 records just because lsu lost the head 2 head

And because Arkansas hadn't been in the Sugar Bowl since 1979. They would also bring more revenue to the city because everyone knew they would travel.

It was certainly a factor.

If you don't think there's a chance the BCS will take A&M this year, you need to wake up.

Like I said, hopefully we finish 4, so then we are a lock.

OP here,

Johnny Football is a big draw, but hopefully LSU prevails and gets the BCS nod if it is available due to the simple head to head fact.

I know two things for certain, the last two times we have played Texas A&M we have beaten them and both were in the state of Texas. So say whatever you want about our team, I'm "just sayin" that we have beaten you with an NFL caliber QB and with Johnny Football. Also, get ready for Death Valley next season, after that early AM kickoff, we're going to do everything in our power to make sure its a night game.

I didn't say there wasn't a chance aTm could be picked. I just don't think it's much of one.

FWIW, Brad Edwards is projecting A&M to the Fiesta Bowl over LSU.

Is this really going to happen? I know both teams will win out and we will stay ahead of them, but would the selection committee choose them over us?

...honest objective comment:

i'm not so convinced that the fiesta bowl will not take texas a&m over lsu if the aggies win out, even with lsu beating a&m, or the sugar bowl if bama falls to georgia. bama losing to uga is the best thing that can happen for a&m as for a bcs berth.

as an outsider of the two teams, I can tell you for sure, i'd much rather watch Johnnie Football and a&m play in the fiesta than I would lsu. fact is, a&m has just became one of the most marketable teams in america after last week's win at bama...much more marketable than lsu at this point, and marketing has everything to do with everything.

yes, but wasn't that going to be a matchup with USC?

I don't think so. USC was projected to go to the BCSNC game if they won out, so the Rose Bowl was going to have to fill in a team for USC. The Trojans ended up losing to UCLA and had to settle for beating Michigan in the Rose Bowl.

...that is a homer laugh if i have ever heard one, purp&gold. i don't hear any non-lsu fans laughing.

shall we take a poll? i got $100 bucks lsu loses. no lsu or a&m fans allowed to vote.

such polls are being conducted as we speak. lsu trails by a mile.
