He may have been complacent being so tied to Kelly, but S&C Coaches do what the Head Coaches dictate and they look bad by association if the Head Coach isn’t getting it done. We saw this with Moffitt under O. Under a better coach with the right mindset in Elko, now he looks like he’s working with Saban and early Miles again.
I’m glad we have reset here, but the blame and the issues with physicality over the last 2-3 years rest with the head coach. These problems came from the top down.

Part of the reason for that is our complete lack of a pass rush with the front 4 the last two years. The best teams in these playoffs have DEs who can create opportunities on their own, even when doubles and chipped.

Fittingly, Miami fans hated Baker when he was DC there

It’s starts and ends with a head coach that doesn’t mandate a tough D
It continues with player evaluation
Then onto poor S&C program
Finally game scheme and play calls
LSU graded out at least a D in all categories this year

The offense couldn’t move the ball so D was taking 90 snaps a game. Simple as that

Everything BK came in contact with became soft....players and coaches.
