Do you just need one if you want to park in a certain lot? Or is there NO parking if you don't have a pass / you're parking 2 miles away?

Levee/hayfield lots are free...walk to east side of stadium for every home game and it's not too far of a walk.

that's also an option, or simply getting there early and parking over by the cow palace....

My buddy and I are driving in Sat morning around 8 or 9. Where's the best place to park? Its been a while since I've been to a game and never had to worry about it as a student. Don't mind playing, but free parking equal more booze.

If you are that at 8 or 9 am, you will be able to just park in the levee lots. Cheap and easy.

Come in on Nicholson and park in the lots where folks are selling space. The earlier you are the closer you get. The closer you get the more you pay. 30 bucks should be the right mix between close and cheap.
Most spaces on Nicholson are commercial buildings, churches...etc. Been parking there for years and it's the easiest I've found. Others are close, but traffic is a nightmare.

Other than a pass this is the easiest, and it is the easiest getting out even over passes (unless you leaves early)

One thing that is great about a pass (besides the obvious guaranteed parking spot) is that if for some reason you get to campus late, you can drive anywhere you want and the cops won't turn you away.

I drove down with my son last year and parked near the rec center. Not a bad walk, but nor did we carry anything for tailgating. Problem was the clusterfrick of traffic to get out took over an hour to hit 10.
