weird statement. I doubt seriously the coaches are "forcing" players on US. they are running a TEAM and they are aware we have a problem at that position. the chief is one of the best in the business and to insinuate there is some sort of conspiracy against the fans is ludicrous.

quote:

Happens when you switch schemes to one that doesn't fit your talent

you may be right. but why the switch? that question puzzles me.

quote:

Team needs to put its best playmakers in the game and scheme around their strengths instead of forcing them into a scheme they don't fit well.

we have plenty of playmakers in the game. shite, you are saying that our best playmakers are on the bench?

so we're down to the scheme. you are saying we are forcing our players into a scheme that doesn't suit them. this is a completely different issue and one we can't solve here. there is much DISAGREEMENT as what scheme we should run. there is also many that believe CHANGING SCHEME'S in the middle of a season can be disasterous. at least, completely changing scheme's. I agree we should alter our play calling to take some pressure off of the power running game, but there is no guarantee it will work. I saw a lot of different plays last week; they broke down for one reason or another. all this talk about scheming to the players strength, putting all of your best playmakers in, getting the ball to them "in space", etc, etc. is all talk. and talk by non-football people. it sounds great but the REALITY is not that simple. altering the play calling is good and better execution is sorely needed. at this point in the season drastic changes are a terrible idea.

You are way over thinking this LSU Grand Dad

Systemic problems begin correction when you get the right people on the bus and they are all sitting in the correct seats.

What the hell are you talking about? I said this place is fricking retarded because the OP said "There has never been an LSU team like this" and then made fun of your comment about having watched college football since 2005. Believe me, I'm not knighting for you or the OP you fricking dumb shite.

Damn you must be dumb. Of course you're not knighting for me. Every time somebody says something against the coach or team, you go on a freaking rampage about them being dumb or ignorant. I could just go from the last two days of your post history. Instead of discussing, you like to get pissed at people on here and call them names. Oh, and the constant sarcasm is not funny, it's annoying.

I'm 24 and didn't start watching football of any kind until 2003 (NFL). I've already discussed in threads about that topic, that I was the only person in my house who actually watched sports. My only sports watching brother left for college, so I was in the house with two sisters, and mother, and a lil bro with only two tvs. Didn't even know about college ball or cared until a friend got me into it.

You can laugh all you want because you're 40 and have been through the 90s of LSU ball, but I don't give a shite. We are in the here and now, and the here and now fact is that this has not happened in the Miles Era.

The O-line talent is there. Basically same players as last season but with a year more experience. So I really just don't believe it's the players themselves. I just think that going with a lot more 1 back sets with 3 wideouts and Harris at QB would cure a lot of what ails the offense. I'm not up on blocking schemes, but simiplify it if some how Grimes made it more complicated. Complicated schemes have never worked for LSU on any side of the ball at any positions. Crowton and Tepper tried complicated and our players just don't do complicated. We had one bad game on defense. It's going to get better. Locoture and Godcheaux are a very solid starting duo at DT, just no depth behind them. Bechwith brings size speed and aggression to MLB, which we need with our undersized DT's, so play him. Other than that, we have the talent on defense to be good, not great, but a pretty good LSU style defense.

Recruiting numbers and rankings look good on paper, but most of the guys are either skilled offensive players or DB's - past two years, present, and future classes. We need some Brockers and Logan type guys. Don't know what the deal is with Gilmore, Bain, and Herron. Expected more.

Grandad the anaology is simply that everyone has an assignment and they are responsible for their job only.

In the case of our team CLM is the bus driver but he insists on sitting in every seat and controlling every one else

As Ronald Reagan said- " “Surround yourself with great people; delegate authority; get out of the way”

Les just needs to get out of the way. He has done a good job hiring and recruiting.

GET OUT OF THE WAY-
1. Leave play calling and gameplan to Cam and Chief
2. Turn clock management over to anyone else
3. Leave player selection to OC and DC
4. Live in 2014 not 1975 or 1980
5. Don't let your high level of compensation make you believe you are smarter than all your assistant coaches

LSU's problems are mostly self inflicted by poor decision making.

I am not anti CLM. I like the guy. If he would trust the guys that he hired he would see an amazing turn around

Exactly....his acting like a whiny girl that got kicked in the twat everytime someone criticizes Miles is just as "stupid" as the poster that's criticizing.

LSU is headed for mediocrity in the SEC west. I don't think it's that far-fetched to see them last in the west this year, considering they have to go to Arkansas. Next year, Harris wil be in better shape to lead the team but the defense will take awhile to rebuild. The offensive philosophy has to change. No team is going to win championships without some form of the SPREAD offense. Even with the offense as it it, the execution of plays is horrible.

The answer to how to solve the problem is to acknowledge that the DL problems are not going to get solved this year. The good teams are going to run up the gut on us. If we stack the box to help stop the run, we put our corners and safeties on an island and even that may not work. We'll have to outscore opponents like Aub, Ark, Bama, Tamu, etc...

What changes on offense do you think are necessary to outscore everyone in order to win? My thought is we should go with the spread and the guy who throws the ball better, but who knows, maye run, run, pass, punt will somehow get it done.

play the QB that can CONSISTENTLY throw the vertical and intermediate pass.

2. Let Cam call all offensive plays and develop gameplan on offense

that sounds overly simple. what if your QB can't remember the plays? what if he throws a bunch of ints? what if, what if. your anointing Harris with very little proof. it is possible, even probable that Jennings beat Harris out and the Harris we saw in the Wisconsin game was what the coaching staff saw. he was lost and looked terrible. no way he could have engineered that comeback.

quote:

i'll bet Cam calls the plays already. the gameplan is A STAFF EFFORT. that's right. the staff develops the plan. i'm sure both les and cam have the most to say about it. you have zero proof that cam doesn't call the plays, ZERO.

Yes you have. Think Hallman. Think Dinardo/Tepper. Now fast forward to 2014. When it crashes, it crashes.
