He compares to Joe Montana and Tom Brady more.

FWIW, he and Stidham were in the same recruiting class and Stidham was ranked significantly higher. That aside, while both are considered "dual threat" guys, I doubt opposing defenses will be terribly concerned about Burrow's running ability (just like Stidham). He's probably good enough to get you a first down here and there if the pocket breaks down, but I doubt him running will be a big part of the offense.
Objectively, Stidham probably has a stronger arm and may be a better natural passer. However, I don't think Burrow is just going to be out there throwing floaters. Above all, if he's accurate and knows who to get the ball to then he should be a step up for LSU at the position.

Compares more to Joe Namath before he blew his knee in college.
People forget that he was a serious run threat and could dunk with ease on the court. He always had the cannon and, before injury, had great quickness.

It looks like we will have an efficient passer, which is light years where we have been, thus the excitement.
I think the guy can be good based on the limited film we have access to viewing. He has a fairly quick release makes quick decisions and can run when forced to. If you watch his youtube videos, you can see a lot of it. On a couple of plays in the last spring game, he makes a last second to the right receiver for either 6 or a first down. A blitzer came free and he released at the last second. He really has all the smarts and tools.
The big question is when it is live. Can he deliver that same strike when he is going to get blown up or after he gets blown up a time or two. As Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan til you punch them in the mouth. Only JB can answer this critical question.

I don't wish to compare Burrow to those buttheads.

Buttheads?? Coker won a natty and Stidham almost had a very average Auburn team in the playoffs last year??? Like you wouldn't jump at either of those types of productive seasons this year.
