How did Ole Piss sneak into a new years 6 bowl?

I get the. But they were projected to miss in every poll and they have been at 11 the whole time

They were ranked 11. They get a spot in the NY6. The top 12 get a spot unless an auto bid knocks them out (like Liberty did to knock out Oklahoma).
Now, what we thought would happen would be that FSU would get the playoffs and the orange bowl would be obligated to take the next highest ranked ACC team (a team not in the top 12 bumping Ole Miss out). With FSU not in the playoffs they took that orange bowl spot.

Because our defense couldn't get one stop against their average offense.
That should've been like a 49-24 type game if we had a below average defense considering how our offense played that night
