This is what Wilbon said on PTI. ESPN talking heads staying on message. No surprise here.

But who cares what they think? The rankings are correct. Bama is the indisputable #1 right now based on resume (albeit short).

We're #2. We will play #1. This is all that matters. Isn't it kind of silly for everyone to be discussing this imaginary magnitude to which we are behind the leader?

I mean, when I say it out loud, it just seems fricking stupid

That idiot has LSU ranked 6 in his Power Rankings. Easily the lowest ranking of all 20 voters. All 20 have the Gumps ranked #1 BTW.

And I'm sure there are actually people that believe that.

Like the majority of Bammer fans. Seriously. 3 games into the season and they have anointed themselves the greatest team of all time. Just when you think they can't be anymore insufferable, they are.

Ithink it's fair right now. Bama has beaten a good Michigan team on a neutral field and a talented Arkansas team on the road. LSU has not left the friendly confines of Tiger Stadium yet. Bama is much more tested as of now and much more proven. Who is better is yet to be determined, but Bama deserves the praise right now just like we did at the beginning of last year.

Right on.

Part of it is Alabama does not have the same schedule as LSU. Bama's SEC East games are Mizzo and Tenn, LSU plays Fla and USCe.

not an accurate statement. LSU can be beaten...not by just "any other team." we are headed into our first SEC road game where even tho Auburn is down...they're not out. if our oline play solidifies we should be fine.

The same way Alabama became the only thing standing in LSU's way. The law of averages.

Then again, neither team plays ULM

I wouldn't sweat it yet. You guys have a tougher schedule than we do. You should benefit from wins over Florida, SC and Texas A&M on the road. If FSU gets beat (and they probably will), it'll be Bama and LSU in the big game again. Let's be honest, there's Bama and LSU and no one else. Again.

It's like everyone that will face Alabama this year has been written off. Yet LSU is widely consider by everyone the only tean that can go toe to toe with Saban bama and come out with a victory. However, people still believe LSU can be beaten by any other team but believe Bama only rival would be LSU.

When did this happen?
You, seeing everything through a purple and gold LSU prism, creates this perception.

LSU has to take Auburn to the woodshed Saturday. If you look at what teams like WVU are doing, LSU needs to be able to match that. Until LSU plays Bama it is a beauty contest. No close games. No scores lest than 40.

When did winning not become enough. This more than anything else is why I like the NFL more. Just win and the rest will take care of itself. I don't care if we look like shite and win every game we will still be in the championship game.

Oregon, plus teams for the Big 12 could all still go unbeaten. Do write off USC if they were to win out, it would include either beating Oregon twice or Oregon and Stanford in the Pac 12 CG, plus the Pac 12 is in the rise.

If LSU loses to Bama 11/3, the only way we'd get a rematch is if everyone else has 2 loses. After 1/9, we will not get a 2nd chance.

Bama playing a little better than LSU at this time. Our QB and, at times, our Def did not look sharp. We need to fix a few things to give bama a good game. Plus we need to show up ready to play and that includes the coaches. We can't play conservative and beat Saban. We have to let our guys run and do what they do best.

Gary Danielson of CBS said during the bama game last week that bama can be beat but only by someone with a good QB and balance offense. Bama will start loosing more once someone figures his out and has the talent and coaching ability to do so.

Everytime the media hypes up a team like they are Bama that team usually starts reading those headlines and starts acting like they have already won. LSU is just under that radar and not getting the respect that Bama is. That is fine with me. Keeps an edge to the team.

true dat. the players become stars and not players. bama is coming off of a NC and the football world is annointing them as automatic champs again. i'm sure saban is doing what he can to fight complacency but it will happen one day, like it did against usc two yrs ago. when it does, they will either get back on track or bust. by the way, the same thing could happen to LSU. are we hungry enough? that question reamains to be answered satisfactorly.
