it wasnt close, this isnt little league, if he woudla swung his best % result woulda been a foul ball, 80-90% contact on that wouldabeen a weakground ball probably to the pitcher, same result GAME OVER.

For me, you swing at anything close so you don't leave the game in the umps hands. I didn't have a good look at it, but it didn't look that bad.

The rule for an umpire is that if a catcher has to turn his glove over to catch a pitch, it is a ball. But that wasn't the only bad call that game.

FWIW, I caught in college and spoke with several umpires trying to build rapport. They kept telling me to try and keep my glove pocket facing down, as it looks better from above.

That's about the dumbest baseball statement I've ever read.

Its baseball, you live with the calls.
Umps gave them a run early in the game when they missed a call.

That ump was not working extra innings!

yeah that was pretty bad. so i went and watched the video instead of just looking at the screen shot. i still agree it was a ball but it wasnt THAT obvious.

I think wbrz had the video that showed the pitch was low and not even borderline. But let's suppose Jackson swings and perhaps hits a foul ball or a weak grounder to an infielder. Then, you would have a lot of people complaining why did he swing. He just swung at ball 4 and lost the team a chance to tie the game and potentially win. Hopefully, the team will be focused for the next game and not dwell on the past.
